Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Maggie McKenna Join The Cast of FUNNY GIRL in Concert Sydney Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce that two fabulous performers NATALIE BASSINGTHWAIGHTE (Rogue Traders, star of Neighbours and X Factor) and Maggie McKenna (direct from her lead role in Muriel's Wedding The Musical) will join the nine leading ladies Michala Banas, Casey Donovan, Virginia Gay, Verity Hunt-Ballard, Dami Im, Zahra Newman, Caroline O'Connor, Queenie van de Zandt and Megan Washington in FUNNY GIRL THE MUSICAL IN CONCERT (12-14 July)

With the film celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018, this special Sydney Symphony Orchestra concert will shine the bright lights of Broadway on the Sydney Opera House stage with the iconic role of 'Fanny Brice', who each night will be shared by eleven of Australia's leading talent. FUNNY GIRL THE MUSICAL IN CONCERT will be directed by three-time Helpmann Award winner Mitchell Butel. The show will also star Trevor Ashley, Nancye Hayes as Mrs Brice and Don Hany as Nick Arnstein.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte said "As a huge fan of both Barbra Streisand and Funny Girl, I have fond memories of performing 'Don't Rain On My Parade' at every audition growing up. I cannot wait to get back on the stage at the world renowned Sydney Opera House with such an esteemed cast and the celebrated Sydney Symphony Orchestra. I cannot wait!!"

Funny Girl, the movie, which starred Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice, features beloved songs such as People, I'm the Greatest Star, Don't Rain on My Parade and The Music That Makes Me Dance.

A triumphant story of starry success and a bittersweet story of love, Jule Styne and Bob Merrill's Funny Girl is a musical theatre classic celebrating the exuberant and elegant flavour of Broadway in the 1910s and 20s and the comic genius of Fanny Brice.
