NJPAC's Center for Arts Education Announces New Summer Programs for 2019

Arts Education at NJPAC offers the best arts summer camp for students ages 10 to 18 where students can immerse themselves in a variety of programs perfecting their skills in performing arts. Students will develop their inner artist by taking classes in dance, acting, musical theater, jazz and hip hop.

Classes are taught by professional artists and provide students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a supportive and engaging learning environment at NJPAC's Center for Arts Education or in residence at Rutgers University's Newark campus.

NJPAC offers program choices that range from one week to five weeks in length: Young Artist Summer Intensive; All-Female Jazz Residency; and the Hip Hop Intensive. NJPAC is the State's largest arts education provider offering the most diverse programs lead by certified instructors, many of which are professional performers and musicians.

Young Artist Summer Intensive
Acting • Dance • Musical Theater
NJPAC faculty provides a positive and nurturing learning environment for students to develop their inner artist. Each division of the Young Artist Summer Intensive builds skills in the performing arts and gives the student opportunities to express themselves and create.

Apprentice Division
Ages: 10 - 16
Session One: July 1 - July 12
Session Two: July 15 - July 26
Times: 9AM - 3:30PM
Tuition: $650 per season
Apprentice, an introductory program in which young artists with little or no experience explore, voice, dance and acting.

Artisan Division**
Ages: 12 - 16
Dates: July 1 - July 26
Times: 9AM - 3:30PM
Tuition: $1,100
In Artisan, emerging artists study voice, dance and devised theater and begin to develop a performing arts portfolio.

Advanced Division**
Ages: 12 - 18
Dates: June 24 - July 26
Times: 9AM - 4PM
Tuition: $1,250
In the Advanced program, students dedicated to the performing arts, hone skills and build self confidence in one discipline; dance, acting (devised theater) or musical theater.

**Audition required Audition dates are March 16, 2019 and April 27,2019 Students must register in order to audition.

Savion Glover's Summer Intensive
Dancers, poets, actors, musicians or artists can audition for the opportunity to work with NJPAC's Dance Advisor and Tony Award winner Savion Glover. Solos, groups and bands are welcome.

Ages: 12 - 18
Dates: Jul - Sep
Tuition: FREE

Hip Hop Intensive
As a community student discover how to reimagine their world and boldly express themselves using fundamental Hip Hop cultural practices and art making. Students learn Beatmaking (DJ, Production, Beatboxing), Movement (Breakin/Classic Hip Hop Dance, Today's Trends & Choreography),Emcee'in (Rap & Spoken Word) Visual Art's (Graffiti, Wearable Art & Mural Design) with ambassadors, entertainers and preservers of the craft! This fun and meaningful experience is dynamic! So join us for a creative journey that transforms lives!

Tuition: $700

All-Female Jazz Residency
Regina Carter, Artistic Director

Led by Artistic Director, Regina Carter, young women find inspiration and build community in this one-week jazz resident program. Students will refine their instrumental or vocal skills and work intensely with respected jazz musicians. The program includes individual lessons, small ensemble work, industry panel discussions, field trips to landmark jazz institutions and culminates in a final student showcase. Program is conducted at Rutgers -Newark Campus where the students stay in Rutgers' dormitories. Past Master Class artists/faculty include Terri Lyne Carrington, Stefon Harris and industry experts such as Karen Kennedy and Sheila Anderson.
