NH Theatre Project Celebrates The Holidays With IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY

New Hampshire Theatre Project celebrates their 30th anniversary season with a special holiday production of It's a Wonderful Life. Joe Landry has re-envisioned the beloved film classic as a 1940's style radio play. Five seasoned actors bring George, Clarence, Mary and all the residents of Bedford Falls to life on that fateful Christmas Eve - over 40 different roles. The show features holiday music and a foley artist playing live sound effects.

The original film of It's a Wonderful Life was produced and directed by Frank Capra in 1946, based on a short story called The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern. Although it premiered to lukewarm reviews, the movie was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is considered to be one of the most loved films in American Cinema, and one of the most inspirational films of all time.

"Everyone at New Hampshire Theatre Project wanted to celebrate our 30th Anniversary with a mix of contemporary and traditional productions," says artistic director Genevieve Aichele. "We haven't done a holiday show in over a decade. It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is a tribute to the theatre arts at their most joyful and celebratory."

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is directed by Robin Fowler and features well-known seacoast actors Bill Humphreys, Todd Hunter, Peter Josephson, Kathleen Somssich and Genevieve Aichele, with Kate Kirkwood as the Foley Artist. CJ Lewis is Music Director and Sound Designer, Mike Ficarra is Lighting Designer, and Fran Bechtold is Costume Designer. Stage manager Brennan Donnell round out the crew.

Patrons can help NHTP celebrate our 30th anniversary in style - 40's-style that is! After each Saturday night performance of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, we'll be celebrating with champagne, holiday cookies, and celebrity photos with the cast. Donate an extra $30 Anniversary Gift in addition to your ticket and we'll invite you to attend the party for free. Wear your own vintage 40's costume or we'll provide period-appropriate accessories.
