Los Angeles singer, MaryJo Mundy will bring her one-woman show entitled "Nearly Nyro" to the Arthur Newman Theater in Palm Desert on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2 PM. The show is based on the music and life of singer and songwriter Laura Nyro and will feature a full band directed by Ross Kalling along with MaryJo's back up singers. Tickets are $15 cash at the box office that opens at 1 PM. The Arthur Newman Theater is located at 73750 Catalina Way in the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert.

"Nearly Nyro" starring MaryJo Mundy, is based on the music and life of singer Laura Nyro who died in 1997 at the age of just 49. The show is even more poignant as the date of this show, April 8th, is the same date as Laura's death. Lauro Nyro, who was a prolific songwriter who won awards for both her recordings as well as for writting chart-topping hits for some of the biggest stars including The 5th Dimension, Wedding Bell Blues, Stoned Soul Picnic, Barbra Streisand, Stoney End, as well as songs for the groups, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Three Dog Night, to name only a few. Singing Laura Nyro songs has been a long passion of MaryJo Mundy, having performed them in many of her numerous shows in clubs and venues throughout the Los Angeles area. Her first CD, Halfway To Heaven was released in 2007 and has songs with regular airplay on national radio. Joining MaryJo for her Palm Springs area debut will be musical director, Ross Kalling, who will lead a full band, and two back up singers.
