Miami City Ballet Announces Company Roster for 2018/19 Season

Miami City Ballet (MCB) has announced its 52-member roster for the 2018/19 season, which opens on October 19 in Miami. The highlights include the return of principal dancer Jeanette Delgado, the promotion of Samantha Hope Galler from corps de ballet to soloist, and the addition of five new dancers to the corps de ballet: Gustavo Ribeiro, former corps de ballet member at Kansas City Ballet; Madison McDonough, formerly a member of the corps de ballet at Los Angeles Ballet; Nina Fernandes, formerly a member of the corps de ballet at Houston Ballet; Satoki Habuchi and Petra Love, both recent graduates of Miami City Ballet School.

Jeanette Delgado returns to MCB for the 2018/19 season after a one-year leave of absence. The Miami-raised principal dancer began her training with the Miami City Ballet School at the age of nine after being awarded a scholarship. She received the Princess Grace Award in 2003, which prompted her apprenticeship at Miami City Ballet, she became a soloist in 2006 and principal dancer in 2008. Delgado has originated feature roles in Justin Peck's Chutes and Ladders and Heatscape, Alexei Ratmansky's Symphonic Dances, Liam Scarlett's Viscera and Euphotic and has danced leading roles in many of the Balanchine masterworks.

Samantha Hope Galler has been promoted to the rank of soloist after her fourth season with the Company. In the 2017/18 season, Galler performed in various Jerome Robbins ballets during MCB's Robbins Centennial Celebration, including West Side Story Suite, The Cage, In The Night, and The Concert (Or, The Perils of Everybody). Galler joined Miami City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2014.

Gustavo Ribeiro joins Miami City Ballet as a corps de ballet member, after two years at Kansas City Ballet. Born in Brazil, Ribeiro started dancing at the age of twelve at Expressão e Arte Studio de Dança. After attending the Orlando Ballet School, he joined Washington Ballet's Second Company and later began his professional career with Alberta Ballet.

Madison McDonough, a Miami Beach native, joins Miami City Ballet as a member the corps de ballet. Madison began her dance training at Miami City Ballet School at the age of five, and at fifteen was accepted to The School of American Ballet (SAB) Winter Term, attending four years before joining Los Angeles Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2014.

Nina Fernandes, from Rio De Janerio, Brazil, joins the Company as a corps de ballet member after two years with Houston Ballet. Fernandes received her early training at Centro de Artes Madeleine Rosay in Rio De Janeiro and received a full scholarship to American Academy of Ballet for their 2014 summer program. Fernandes has previously danced as a member of The Washington Ballet Studio Company and Tulsa Ballet II.

Petra Love joins the Company after spending one year as an MCB apprentice. Born in New York, Love started dancing at the age of three and received her training at Ballet Academy East, The School of American Ballet and Miami City Ballet. In 2017, she attended the summer program at Miami City Ballet School before joining Miami City Ballet School's Pre-Professional Division.

Finally, Satoki Habuchi also joins the corps de ballet after spending one year as an apprentice with MCB. Born in Osaka, Japan, Habuchi began his early training at Naomi Funatsuki Ballet Studio and Tazuru Ichiyanagi Ballet School. At the age of sixteen, Habuchi moved to New York to continue his training at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet and in 2015 began training at Miami City Ballet School.
