Maine State Ballet To Hold 2018 Auditions Maine State Ballet will hold auditions for its annual holiday classic, The Nutcracker, on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th, 2018, at the Maine State Ballet studios, 348 U.S. Route One, in Falmouth.

Dancers must be at least 7 years old by October 15, 2018, to audition. Dancers do not have to be affiliated with the Maine State Ballet School to audition; all dancers at all levels are invited.

The Nutcracker will be performed with a live orchestra at Portland's Merrill Auditorium over three weekends: November 23-25, November 30-December 2, and December 8-9, 2018. At the audition, please note any rehearsal or performance date conflicts on your registration form. Most dancers are not cast in every performance, and schedules can often be accommodated if known in advance. Otherwise, dancers must be available for all performance and rehearsal dates.

Dancers aged 13 and older will audition on Friday, September 7, and dancers in grades 2 through 7 will audition on Saturday, September 8.

Girls should wear black leotards and pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair in a bun. Pointe shoes are not required unless requested at the end of the audition for older students. Boys should wear black tights, white shirt, and black or white ballet shoes.
There is a $10 registration fee.
