Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP), the division responsible for such smash Broadway hits as THE LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and MARY POPPINS, will debut CAMP ROCK: THE MUSICAL, a stage adaptation of the CAMP ROCK 2008 and 2010 Disney Channel Original Movies with songs from both movies and a story based on CAMP ROCK 2: THE FINAL JAM. The show will be available for licensing in November 2010 through Disney's exclusive licensing partner, Music Theatre International (MTI). The theatrical version is a seventy-minute musical that focuses on the storyline of the sequel and features over a dozen hit songs from both popular musical movies.

This is the second successful collaboration between DTP and Disney Channel. In 2007, DTP created and toured HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: ON STAGE throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Through MTI, Disney Theatrical continues to license HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: ON STAGE and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 to schools as well as community and professional theatres. As the most popular titles in Disney's licensing portfolio, they have been requested an astounding 4,700 times, generating over 23,000 performances of the show.

This new stage adaptation of Disney's CAMP ROCK: THE MUSICAL features a book by Faye Greenberg and RoBert Freedman (adapted from the original movie script by Dan Berendsen and the team of Karin Gist & Regina Hicks, based on characters created by Karin Gist & Regina Hicks and Julie Brown & Paul Brown), and a score including four songs from CAMP ROCK and ten songs from CAMP ROCK 2: The Final Jam, with music adapted, orchestrated and produced by David Lawrence.

Commenting on the announcement, Steve Fickinger, Vice President, Creative Development & Licensing said, "As someone who found an intense passion for theatre very early on in life, I am thrilled that we'll be giving young people the chance to perform CAMP ROCK in schools and local theatres across the country. We took the hit songs and engaging storyline from the popular Disney Channel movies and crafted a theatrical version that students will be able to mount on stage in their own hometowns. This new licensing opportunity will provide countless young people with an introduction to the world of theatre, which is incredibly gratifying."

"This adaptation affords kids and tweens in communities around the world the opportunity to experience 'Camp Rock' in a deeper way while the movie's strong theme of working together to achieve results echoes the experience of putting on a stage show," said Adam Sanderson, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing, Disney Channels Worldwide.
