Love, Laughter and Friendship Triumph in STEEL MAGNOLIAS, Opening at Waterville Opera House January 26

Inspired by the 1989 film classic, Steel Magnolias is revived through the Waterville Opera House! Sassy Southern humor and unbreakable friendships make this play one you don't want to miss!

Waterville, Maine -The Waterville Opera House (WOH) is proud to present the feel-good play about never-ending friendship - Steel Magnolias - January 26th through February 4th in downtown Waterville. Inspired by Robert Harling's 1987 play (based on the loss of his sister), and Herbert Ross' famous 1989 film, see this classic revival come to life on the historic Waterville Opera House stage this winter.

In Chinquapin, Louisiana, Truvy's beauty salon is where all the ladies who are "anybody" go to have their hair done. Truvy and Annelle dispense shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, the local social leader, M'Lynn, and the prettiest girl in town, Shelby. This play and its characters are truly touching, funny, and full of love and remarkable strength.

Share the powerful love that connects these strong women as you ride the rollercoaster of life with them. As they journey through ups and downs, these friends prove that you can be as delicate as a flower, while still remaining tough as steel. This play reminds us that while there are struggles in life, love and great friendship can conquer any obstacle fate sends our way. Full of memorable quotes you love from the movie, this play will have you "laughing through tears."
