Theatricum's 'Under the Oaks' series brings performance and live music to the Topanga woods in the intimate S. Mark Taper Pavilion at Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum.


• Tonight, August 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Martin & Music - Theatricum company member Gerald C. Rivers, known as "the voice of Dr. martin Luther King, Jr.," and Broadway vocalist Charles Holt star in this highly acclaimed two-man show about MLK's enduring legacy.

• Thursday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Roots Americana - It's a night of country, bluegrass, funk and gospel with L.A.-based groups The Whole Damn Fam and Little Faith. The five Pullman siblings of The Whole Damn Fam perform seamlessly, each taking turns singing and playing back up. Sky Rocket recording artists Little Faith stir the soul with a blend of roots, gospel and old school R&B.

• Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m.
A Night Under the Stars with Arlan Oscar Schierbaum & Friends - Retro soul-pop-jazz music with a fresh, new sound. Arlan Oscar Schierbaum - Hammond organ/Moog Music Inc. synthesizer; J*Davey Chegwidden - drums/percussion; Mark Goldenberg - guitars; David Henning - bass; J.T. John Thomas - keyboards; and special guests.

• Thursday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Matt Van Winkle - L.A.-based songwriter and bandleader Matt Van Winkle's songs are vivid and powerful. Heartfelt lyrics mix with memorable tunes to create new imaginative connections.

• Saturday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Peter Alsop 4 Adults: Songs of Love, Sex and Gender - Leave the kids at home for a delightfully funny evening of Peter Alsop songs performed by his friends - actors, songwriters, bands, comedians, storytellers - and by Peter himself. Performers include Tom Allard, Peter Alsop, Tate Ammons, Philip Boone, Matt Cartsonis, Ian Flanders, Ellen Geer & Melora Marshall, Victoria Hilyard, Joe Karnes, Nina Kurtz, Janis Liebhart, Philip Littell, James McVay, Dan Ubick & Brian Chapman

The intimate S. Mark Taper Pavilion at Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum is an outdoor space terraced into the hillside of the rustic canyon. Audience members are advised to dress casually and bring cushions for bench seating. Refreshments are available at the venue, and picnickers are welcome before and after the performances.
