Kara Lindsay and Kevin Massey Bring A BROADWAY ROMANCE to North Carolina

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is thrilled to welcome two of Broadway's biggest stars to its stage for a one-night-only concert. Kara Lindsay, star of Broadway's Newsies, Wicked, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will join her husband, Black Mountain native and Broadway veteran, Kevin Massey, in their original musical cabaret A Broadway Romance on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 7:30pm in the Charles D. Owen High School auditorium in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

A Broadway Romance artfully tells the tale of Lindsay & Massey's love story: how it began onstage, and soon blossomed off. Their fascinating history includes music from, and stories involving, Newsies, Wicked, Memphis, Tarzan, Little House on the Prairie, the Musical, as well as many other beloved Broadway and Disney musicals. Lindsay and Massey have performed all across the world, on Broadway and even on the big screen. But, according to the two, their favorite journey began in 2008 when they met in an audition room "pretending to fall in love." Come let them take you on the journey of how fate, a TV musical and a fair amount of Broadway magic brought together this New York girl and this Black Mountain boy.

Kara Lindsay's Broadway credits include Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Glinda in Wicked, and her critically-acclaimed role as Katherine in the original stage cast of Newsies, as well as the film currently playing on Netflix. Other major credits include originating the role of Laura Ingalls Wilder in Little House on the Prairie, the Musical; Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins; the title role in Cinderella and Sally Bowles in Cabaret. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, and a native of Rochester, New York.

Kevin Massey was born and raised in Black Mountain, and is a proud graduate of Charles D. Owen High School. After attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Morehead Scholarship, Kevin began his stage career in New York and Europe in 2001. His numerous Broadway credits include the Deaf West production of Big River, Disney's Tarzan, Memphis, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Massey also originated the lead role in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on its first national tour. Other major theatre credits include originating the role of Almanzo Wilder in Little House on the Prairie, the Musical and Bonnie & Clyde in its pre-Broadway run.

"It is always a joy to come back to where my soul feels at home - and share with my hometown how proud I am to be from this area, and how much they have influenced me on this crazy journey to the big city and beyond," says Massey. "I also cannot wait to talk about my favorite resume credit: husband to Kara Lindsay."

Charles D. Owen High School auditorium is located at 99 Lake Eden Road in Black Mountain. Tickets to A Broadway Romance are $25 before March 17, and $30 day-of, based on availability. Tickets may be purchased by calling 828-669-0930 or by visiting blackmountainarts.org.
