1) Breaking News: Broadway's CINDERELLA Announces Casting Update: Joe Carroll to Succeed Santino Fontana, Victoria Clark Will Return

The producers of the hit musical CINDERELLA on Broadway announce new cast members who will join the company in the coming weeks: starting January 28, Joe Carroll begins performances as Prince Topher, taking over the role from original cast member and Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana, who concludes his year-long run in the musical. Also beginningJanuary 28, Todd Buonopane will replace original cast member Greg Hildreth as the rebel Jean-Michel; and CINDERELLA ensemble member Stephanie Gibson will replace Marla Mindelle as stepsister Gabrielle. On January 21, Tony Award winner Victoria Clark will return as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother Marie, which she originated and for which she received a Tony Award nomination. Tony nominee Rebecca Luker has performed the role of Marie since September. (more...)

It's finally official. After more than a month of voting--following a month-long nomination process--approximately 7,000 voters have selected the winners of the New York Cabaret Awards for 2013. Self-proclaimed cabaret "Diva" Ann Hampton Callaway and her Broadway baby sister Liz Callaway are either the principals or connected to four awards out of this year's 18 categories, including "Best Duo or Group Show" for the return after 18 years of their critically-acclaimed sister act Sibling Revelry, and "Best Tribute Show" to Ann for her exciting homage to Sarah Vaughan, From Sassy to Divine. Ann's musicians for her Sarah Vaughan show at Dizzy's Jazz Club at Lincoln Center took the Award for "Best Band or Orchestra," and Alex Rybeck received the most votes as "Best Musical Director" for Sibling Revelry, which was staged in August at 54 Below. On Twitter Watch, Donna Murphy wrote 'Once upon a time a witch needed 2 text some1 from the woods. In honor of the new year trying this twitter thing. Murphy received the first of her two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as 'Fosca' in Passion. Her second Tony for her portrayal of 'Anna Leonowans' in the 1996 revival of The King and I. Her Daytime Emmy Award came from her first television film, HBO's Someone Had to be Benny. This talented and respected actress has had a diverse career, making a number of appearances on both the big and small screens, working in such films as The Bourne Legacy, Tangled, World Trade Center, Spider-Man 2, The Door in the Floor, Star Trek: Insurrection, Center Stage and The Astronaut's Wife. The Glass Menagerie starts off the New Year with some good news! Producers Jeffrey Richards, John N. Hart Jr. and Jerry Frankel, in association with the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), are pleased to announce that the limited engagement of the critically-acclaimed revival of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) production of The Glass Menagerie at the Booth Theatre (222 W 45th Street) has recouped its $2.6 million investment. The production, which began performances on Thursday, September 5, 2013, and officially opened on Thursday, September 26, 2013, will play its final performance on Sunday, February 23, 2014.
