Comedian Al Lubel is a prisoner to his past. After 20 plus years as one of the best stand ups working in the U.S. - a career that began by his winning the $100,000 Grand Prize on TV's Star Search (other winners have included Kevin James, Brad Garrett and Sinbad), to being one of the last stand up comics to get the coveted "OK" sign from star maker Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show, and that continues today with a string of crowd pleasing appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman - Al Lubel is at the height of his comedic powers.

Lubel's respect by his peers in the comedy world is unmatched. Current comedy superstars like Sarah Silverman and Adam Sandler, as well as comedy legends like Gary Shandling and Jackie Mason, are some of his biggest fans. King of Hollywood comedies, writer/director Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Funny People) praises Al as Star Search's ultimate winner. One comedian was even quoted in US magazine saying, "...Al Lubel... has one of the best jokes I have ever heard." That comedian is none other than Jerry Seinfeld.

And yet most people have no idea who Al Lubel is. Maybe it's because Al just never caught that career rocketing lucky break that almost every talented artist needs to push them into stardom. Or maybe it's been the struggles with his own character flaws that have prevented the success he deserves. "I am very lazy" says Lubel. "To give an example of how lazy I am: I was too lazy to come up with an example." He also suffers from a severe case of Narcissistic Personalty Disorder. "You know the legend of Narcissus", Al explains. "He was so in love with himself that he starved to death staring at his reflection. The moral of the story? Pack a lunch."

Despite these challenges Al Lubel has soldiered on. Perhaps as an effort to exercise his inner demons, Al has created a one man show about himself that is a theatrical tour-de-force. Part comedy, part tragedy and full of drama, this 90 minute master piece has been playing to enthusiastic audiences in a off Broadway theater on the upper west side of New York city for over a year. Now to culminate this great theatrical achievement, Al and his producers have decided to have Al perform the remaining dates of the show without charging an admission fee.

Why stop charging admission? "We want as many people to see Al as possible. Bottom line", answers show producer and fellow comic Rob Cioffi. "Al Lubel's unique comedic genius has been the biggest open secret on the American stand up comedy scene for the last 20 years. This show is the perfect vehicle for Al's extraordinary talents. Our goal is to see this show get the exposure it deserves and taking the radical step of free admission will hopefully help to do that. Al Lubel is a sleeping giant. It is time for that giant to awake and be set free upon the world!"
