Creativity Foundation Legacy Prize Winner To Perform In Jaffrey

New Hampshire can proudly claim bragging rights to one of its own with a Creativity Foundation Legacy Prize winner in 2017, master cellist Andrew Koutroubas. The Monadnock Region will be able to experience Andrew's artistry with an upcoming concert. He will perform at The Park Theatre's River Street Theatre (RST) on Sunday, June 17 at 7:30 pm. The event will be part of The RST Summer Concert Series.

A native of Southern New Hampshire, Andrew Koutroubas began studying the cello with Charlotte Hawkins of Lyndeborough, NH, at the age of 11. He quickly excelled, and performed Mozart string quartets and arranged works by J.S. Bach at festivals, places of worship and nursing homes in New Hampshire and Massachusetts with the Hawkins family quartet.

Andrew has played with the El Sistema Side by Side Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel, the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, the Peterborough Community Orchestra under Peter Szep, the Worcester Youth Collegium Orchestra under Ian Watson, the Southern New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra and the New Hampshire Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Grounded in the classical tradition, Andrew has a taste for contemporary trends, and has performed and recorded with rock, folk and indie bands throughout New England. He has performed at Sanders Theater, Kresge Auditorium, and the Knafel Center, all in Cambridge, MA, and at the M. Steinert & Sons Performance Hall in Boston.

In 2017, Andrew was one of 6 individuals chosen nationwide for the prestigious Creativity Foundation Legacy Prize. The Creativity Foundation is "dedicated to recognizing creative and gifted individuals, and encouraging them to share what they have discovered about creativity with one another and with the public." http://www.creativity-found.org

His performance at the River Street Theatre is entitled "A Summer Soundscape Evening" and it will be a sonic expedition through diverse national styles, of folk and of royalty. It will include music from the age of enlightenment and beyond featuring compositions for Unaccompanied Cello by:

Evaristo Felice Dall'abaco (1675-1742)

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)

Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901)

Jean-Louis Duport (1749-1819)

Friedrick Dotzauer (1783-1860)

and others

Tickets for "Andrew Koutroubas: A Summer Soundscape Evening" are $12 and can be purchased by calling the RST box office at (603) 532-8888 or by visiting online at www.riverst.org. Due to the limited size of the RST, advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.

The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by: Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.
