Austin Lyric Opera and Butler Opera Center Team for THE PAGLIACCI PROJECT - 9/29/2012

The Pagliacci Project is an exciting new collaboration between Austin Lyric Opera (ALO) and the Butler Opera Center at the University of Texas (BOC). This partnership will culminate in numerous live performances of Act II from Leoncavallo's renowned opera, Pagliacci, in public venues in and around Austin, reaching audiences and communities new to opera. Performed in English, with updated sets and costumes, The Pagliacci Project will take place in a variety of highly-visible locations, such as outdoor street festivals, shopping malls, and clubs. Performances are free to the general public.

59E59 Theaters hosts the NY premiere of FLY ME TO THE MOON, written and directed by Marie Jones. Produced by Green Shoot Productions and part of 1st Irish at 59E59 Theaters, FLY ME TO THE MOON begins performances on Wednesday, September 5 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 30. York Theatre Company's CLOSER THAN EVER Ends Extended Run - 9/30/2012

BULLET FOR ADOLF Set to Play Final Performance - 9/30/2012

Bullet for Adolf, the outrageous new comedy by Woody Harrelson and Frankie Hyman, will play its final performance Sunday evening, September 30, 2012 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Previews began on July 19, 2012 with Opening Night on August 8, 2012. The production was originally scheduled to end its limited engagement on Sunday, September 9, but announced an extension shortly following opening night.


NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 Opens at Ars Nova - 10/1/2012

Ars Nova has announced the world premiere of Ars Nova 2011 Composer-in-Residence Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Directed by Rachel Chavkin, this production will play a limited Off-Broadway engagement October 1 – November 10. Official Opening Night is set for Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 PM.


A THURBER CARNIVAL Reading and More Set for Pearl Theatre Opening on 42nd Street - 10/1/2012

On Monday, October 1, The Pearl Theatre Company celebrates the opening of The Pearl Theatre (555 West 42nd Street), its first permanent home, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a benefit reading of James Thurber's A Thurber Carnival, arranged and directed by Michael McKean, who will also perform. The reading's all-star cast also includes Jason Butler Harner, Jackie Hoffman, Elizabeth Marvel, Dakin Matthews, Maryann Plunkett, Jay O. Sanders, and Annette O'Toole.

Fandango announced today that advance tickets for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, PART 2 will go on sale October 1 at midnight EST, more than six weeks before the movie's November 16 release date. According to a recent survey, a majority of Fandango moviegoers named "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" the most anticipated movie of the fall season.

BROKE Kicks Off ESPN Films' 30 FOR 30: VOL. II - 10/2/2012

ESPN Films, creators of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning 30 for 30 film series, has announced the schedule for the new slate of films in its 30 for 30 series, presented by Buick Verano. The series kicks off with Broke on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. on ESPN/ESPNHD and will air on consecutive Tuesday nights in October, concluding the 2012 run with one film airing in December after the Heisman Trophy Presentation. The 30 for 30 documentaries airing this fall are: Broke, 9.79*, There's No Place Like Home, Benji, Ghosts of Ole Miss, and You Don't Know Bo.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will continue its Fall 2012 season with the return engagement of Tony Award-winning actress and singer Betty Buckley. In an exclusive four-week run, Ms. Buckley will premiere her new collection of songs "The Other Women: The Vixens of Broadway." She will perform highlights from some of Broadway's most popular shows, but will celebrate the second female leads, who have introduced classics like "When You're Good to Mama" (Chicago), Another Suitcase In Another Hall (Evita), "I Know Things Now (Into the Woods), "Ribbons Down My Back" (Hello, Dolly!), "Whatever Lola Wants" (Damn Yankees) and "The Miller's Son" (A Little Night Music). Ms. Buckley – who will be joined by Christian Jacob on piano, Tony Marino on bass, Vic Juris on guitar and Todd Isler on drums – will also feature a selection from her new CD Ah Men! The Boys of Broadway, from Palmetto Records, which is based on last year's acclaimed Feinstein's show. Rene Pape will travel to Germany to reprise his acclaimed Wotan at the Berlin State Opera, in a production of Wagner's Die Walkure conducted by Daniel Barenboim (Oct 4-14). For concerts celebrating the centennial of Sir Georg Solti's birth, the singer joins conductor Valery Gergiev and the World Orchestra for Peace at Carnegie Hall (Oct 19) and in Chicago (Oct 21). Pape returns to La Scala--where he just made his recital debut on Sunday, September 16--in December to open its opera season, portraying King Heinrich in Wagner's Lohengrin, together with his friend Jonas Kaufmann and frequent musical partner Daniel Barenboim (Dec 7-17). On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Pape re-joins Barenboim for performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at the Staatskapelle Berlin. And in 2013, to help mark the bicentennial of Wagner's birth, Pape sings his signature Gurnemanz in the new Francois Girard production of Parsifal at the Metropolitan Opera, conducted by Daniele Gatti (Feb 15-March 8).


Untitled Theater Co. #61's Theater 61 Press Launches THE HAVEL COLLECTION - 10/4/2012

Theater 61 Press, a division of the Off-Broadway theater company Untitled Theater Co. #61, announces the October 4, 2012 launch event for the Havel Collection: A series of five new books of translation of plays by Vaclav Havel. Every volume will include translations that have never before been available. The film marks the first black and white Hollywood feature and first stop-motion animated movie to be presented in IMAX.

Washington National Opera (WNO) opens its 2012-2013 season with Gaetano Donizetti's Anna Bolena, September 15 to October 6 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Celebrated American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky returns to WNO to make her role debut as Anne Boleyn. This striking production, new to Washington, is directed by Stephen Lawless, and the WNO Orchestra will be led by Italian conductor Antonello Allemandi in his WNO debut.


ROUTE 30, TOO! Cast and Filmmakers to Appear at World Premiere in Gettysburg - 10/6/2012

John Putch's locally shot follow up film to ROUTE 30, entitled ROUTE 30, TOO! will have its world premiere September 8th and 9th at Chambersburg's Historic Capitol Theater, 159 S. Main St. Chambersburg, Penn., followed by an October 6th Premiere in Gettysburg at the Majestic Theatre. Putch and some of his cast and crew will be in Chambersburg for the premiere to participate in an audience Q&A after the screenings.
