Hoffman in 'MATTRESS' & More Set for Transport Group's 2015 Season - 7/5/2015

Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and OBIE Award-winning theatre company, has announced that its 2015 season will include the world premiere musical The Blonde Streak by Dan Lipton and David Rossmer, slated to run July 5 - August 16 at Theatre 79, and a revival of the classic musical Once Upon a Mattress, starring Jackie Hoffman as Princess Winnifred and John "Lypsinka" Epperson as Queen Aggravain, running November 29 - January 3, 2016 at Abrons Arts Center. Both musicals will be directed by Jack Cummings III.


Michael Ricigliano Jr.'s A QUEEN FOR A DAY Closes Off-Broadway - 7/5/2015

Michael Ricigliano Jr.'s A QUEEN FOR A DAY, directed by John Gould Rubin began performances on April 13th and opened on May 3rd to rave reviews at the Theatre at St. Clement's will complete its run on July 5th to focus on the show's future.


Elfman, Druid Theatre, Cleveland Orchestra & More Set for Lincoln Center Fest 2015 - 7/6/2015

Nigel Redden, Director of Lincoln Center Festival, today announced the line-up for the 20th edition of the Festival, which runs from July 6 through August 2, 2015. The Festival will unfold in six venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus. There will be a total of 58 performances by artists and ensembles from Germany, China, England, Ireland, Russia, USA, and Japan.


Newlyweds Colin Donnell & Patti Murin Lead HOLIDAY INN at The Muny - 7/6/2015

Colin Donnell and Patti Murin, who recently starred opposite each other in Encores! LADY, BE GOOD, will return to the stage in Irving Berlin's HOLIDAY INN at The Muny in St. Louis beginning July 6, just one week after they tie the knot!


Mezzo Soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano Appears in Opera Saratoga's DIDO AND AENEAS - 7/6/2015

One of the country's most exciting mezzo sopranos, Jennifer Johnson Cano, will perform 'Songs of Longing and Desire' in the Picotte Recital Hall at the Massry Center for the Arts in Albany on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 8:00pm. Cano will be accompanied by her husband, Christopher Cano, who is an extraordinary pianist. They often collaborate and work together.

New-York Historical Society Celebrates Al Hirschfeld with New Book - 7/7/2015

Al Hirschfeld immortalized celebrities, politicians, Broadway productions, films, television shows and beyond with his iconic linear drawings for nine decades, establishing himself as one of the most important contemporary portrait artists. Over a decade since the legendary artist drew his final line drawing, he continues to inspire. This spring, Hirschfeld will be celebrated with the publication of a new book and a major exhibition at the New-York Historical Society.

Broadway-Bound WHAT WOMEN DO (AND MEN TOO) Gets Reading at MTC Studios - 7/7/2015

A cast of six will lead a reading of the Broadway-bound WHAT WOMEN DO (and men too) written by playwright and Broadway performer William Youmans and directed by Don Stephenson. The new play is a battle-of-the-sexes farce set in New York City. The reading, which is being produced by The Resonance Ensemble, takes place on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m at the Manhattan Theatre Club Studios (311 W 43rd Street 8th Floor) and is open to the public.

Museum of the Moving Image to Robin Williams' Final Film BOULEVARD, 7/9 - 7/9/2015

While Robin Williams (1951-2014) was best known for his dazzling comic improvisations, his film work showed remarkable range. On Thursday, July 9, Museum of the Moving Image will present a preview screening of Boulevard, featuring Williams in his remarkable final performance, as a quiet man whose life changes dramatically after a charismatic young hustler forces him to rethink his own identity. This special screening in advance of its theatrical release will be followed by a discussion with director (and Astoria, Queens native) Dito Montiel (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) in person. The Museum will precede this program, on June 27, with screenings of two additional films starring Williams in dramatic roles: Robert Altman's Popeye (1980) and Penny Marshall's Awakenings (1990).
