Opera Saratoga Presents Writing Workshop Alongside THE LONG WALK - 7/11/2015

Saratoga Springs, NY -- Opera Saratoga, in partnership with the literary organization Words After War, will present a writing workshop to civilians, veterans and military families on July 11 and July 12, 2015 at The New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY. The two-day event will be held in conjunction with the world premiere of The Long Walk, by Composer Jeremy Howard Beck and Librettist Stephanie Fleischmann. The opera is based upon the critically acclaimed memoir of war and homecoming by Brian Castner.

Lazar & Lewis Lead Reading of Schwartz's THE PRINCE OF EGYPT - 7/11/2015

Bay Street Theater & DreamWorks Theatricals present THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, featuring book by Philip LaZebnik (writer of Mulan, Pocahontas), and music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (composer of Wicked, Pippin, Godspell) in a premiere concert reading of the first act. This new stage adaptation of the epic film will grace the stage at Sag Harbor Center for the Arts on July 11, 2015 at 6 p.m. as part of Bay Street's 24th Annual Summer Gala.

Off-Broadway's CHURCHILL Closes at New World Stages - 7/12/2015

Off-Broadway's hit play CHURCHILL is set to reopen where it began its phenomenal journey, with performances beginning July 17th at Chicago's Greenhouse Theater Center. The show will conclude its current smash engagement at New World Stages July 12th, where it opened on February 18th. Under the direction of Kurt Johns, CHURCHILL is based on the life and writings of one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th Century.

Grammy, Emmy Award Winning Paul Bogaev to Conduct Broadway Stars in Norwalk Symphony's Broadway Pops Concert - 7/12/2015

 The Norwalk Symphony will join our community partners for a Broadway Pops Concert on the Great Lawn of Gallaher Mansion at Cranbury Park in Norwalk. The symphony will take the stage with NSO Music Director Jonathan Yates leading the Overture from Rossini's Barber of Seville. Then Grammy and Emmy Award-winning conductor and composer Paul Bogaev (a Wilton Resident!) will take the podium at 3:30 pm conducting a spectacular group of Broadway stars from The New Paradigm Theatre and up-and-coming stars from Music Theatre of Connecticut and Crystal Theatre. Broadway performers include Kristin Huffman (Milford Resident!) and Fred Rose.  Youth community partners the Talent Education Suzuki School Young musicians, the Norwalk Youth Symphony and students from the Darien high school music division have accepted the invitation to participate in this extraordinary opportunity to play under Mr. Bogaev, side-by-side with the professional musicians of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra! This is a unique opportunity for our youth to be mentored by highly trained professionals!

Marcelo Gomes to Lead UK's THE CARMAN at Sadler's Wells - 7/14/2015

New Adventures are delighted to announce that international ballet superstar, Marcelo Gomes will guest star as 'Luca', the title role in the internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning dance thriller "THE CAR MAN" during the four week summer season at Sadler's Wells from 14 July to 9 August 2015. He will alternate the role with the previously announced Jonathan Ollivier and Chris Trenfield; all three dancers worked together last year, sharing the role of 'The Swan' when Marcelo Gomes made his debut with New Adventures in the Tokyo Season of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake.
