ABC Announces SURVIVING SUBURBIA - 4/6/2009

ABC announces the premiere of new half-hour comedy series, "Surviving Suburbia," starring Bob Saget and Cynthia Stevenson, on MONDAY, APRIL 6 (9:30-10:00 p.m., ET), following "Dancing with the Stars."

In the family-centered tradition of "Roseanne" and "Home Improvement," "Surviving Suburbia" opens the curtain to follow Saget ("How I Met Your Mother," "Full House") and Stevenson ("Men in Trees," "Dead Like Me") as Steve and Anne Patterson, a seemingly normal couple who have been married for 20 years, have two children and a cookie cutter house in the idyllic suburbs. But Steve maintains a rather cynical point of view on family, friends, neighbors, society -- pretty much everyone and everything -- as he tries to survive suburban life.


Chase, Cordero, Green, Saldivar Join Cast Of TOXIC AVENGER - 4/6/2009

Jean Cheever and Tom Polum, producers of The Toxic Avenger, announced today that casting is complete for the upcoming new musical about New Jersey's first superhero. Joining the previously announced Nancy Opel are Sara Chase, Nick Cordero, Demond Green and Matt Saldivar. Ms. Opel, Mr. Cordero and Mr. Green all starred in the George Street Playhouse production of the show, while Ms. Chase appeared in the initial workshop production. Tony Award-winner John Rando directs.

Featuring book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and music by David Bryan (Bon Jovi), The Toxic Avenger will begin performances on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Opening Night is set for Monday, April 6th.


ANGELA'S MIXTAPE Comes To New Georges - 4/6/2009

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, and Hip-Hop Theater Festival will present the premiere of OBIE Winning Actress/Pulitzer-nominated playwright Eisa Davis' "ANGELA'S MIXTAPE," directed by Liesl Tommy. Ms. Davis who was recently seen on Broadway in last season's award-winning musical Passing Strange will portray herself and Linda Powell, last seen on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival On Golden Pond, will portray her aunt, professor and activist Angela Davis. "ANGELA'S MIXTAPE" will be performed at the Ohio Theatre, 66 Wooster Street (between Spring and Broome Streets). Previews begin Monday, April 6, and the official Opening Night will be Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Performances will run through May 2.


StageRight Presents 7-ELEVEN 1 Act Plays Under 11 Mins - 4/6/2009

West Side Story Heads Into Recording Studio - 4/6/2009

Sony Masterworks proudly announces the upcoming release of the New Broadway Cast Recording of West Side Story. The recording will be available nationwide on June 2, 2009. Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake have joined Matthew Broderick in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of "The Philanthropist." Weber will play a friend of the leading character portrayed by Broderick in Christopher Hampton's 1970 take on "The Misanthrope," while Cake will play a writer. Anna Madeley is the female lead, reprising a role she played in the 2005 staging of the play at the Donmar Warehouse. Tate Ellington, Jennifer Mudge and Samantha Soule complete the rest of the casting. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present Tony? Award winner Matthew Broderick as "Philip" in a new Broadway production of The Philanthropist by Tony? and Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton, directed by David Grindley.
