Garber Led 'LAUGHTER' Hits Bdwy - 1/2/2010

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present Victor Garber in Noël Coward's Present Laughter, directed by Nicholas Martin. Previews begin January 2, 2010 with an Opening Night set for January 21, 2010. The production will be a limited engagement.


Diversionary Theatre to Produce West Coast Premiere of THE NEW CENTURY - 1/2/2010

Diversionary Theatre will produce the West Coast premiere of Paul Rudnick's big gay comedy, The New Century, as the third show of their 2009-2010 season. The New Century features the outrageous and poignant stories of a Jewish matron, a flamboyant aging homosexual and a Midwestern craftswoman, and is filled with snappy one-liners and a moment of gratuitous nudity. Diversionary's production will be directed by Igor Goldin, and feature Phil Johnson, Dana Hooley, Jacque Wilke, Noah Longton and Stacey Hardke. Goldin directed last summer's smash hit Yank! The show will run December 3-January 2, including performances over both the Christmas and New Year weekends.


Alan Gilbert To Conduct The New York Philharmonic In Two Contrasting Works By Webern - 1/2/2010

Music Director Alan Gilbert - in his first subscription concerts since opening the New York Philharmonic's 168th season and leading the Orchestra on a major tour to Asia - will conduct the Philharmonic in two contrasting works by Webern; Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, featuring the Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes; and Schumann's Symphony No. 2, Tuesday, December 29, at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 8:00 p.m.

Wildhorn's WONDERLAND Ends Run in Tampa 1/3 - 1/3/2010

The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center is delighted to announce that casting is now complete for Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure. Slated to have its world premiere in Tampa on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 in TBPAC's Ferguson Hall, with Gregory Boyd, artistic director of Houston's Alley Theatre, directing. The music for Wonderland is from composer Frank Wildhorn (The Civil War and Jekyll & Hyde) with lyrics by Jack Murphy (The Civil War and Jekyll & Hyde) and a book by Murphy and Boyd. Wonderland is the first initiative of the Broadway Genesis Project at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Broadway Genesis is intended to help create new works of American theater to play the Tampa market, and then possibly tour other performing arts centers or move to Broadway.


BURN THE FLOOR Ends Run - 1/3/2010

The producers of BURN THE FLOOR, announced today that that the show will extend through January 3, 2010. The Latin and ballroom spectacular had originally announced a limited 12-week run. The first new show of the Broadway season, BURN THE FLOOR broke the box office record at the Longacre Theatre two weeks running. Anya Garnis and Pasha Kovalev of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" joined the company on August 18.

Jenkins & Stanton's LOVE CHILD Transfers To New World Stages - 1/3/2010

Announcing the Off-Broadway transfer of the madcap comedy, Love Child, written and performed by Daniel Jenkins and Robert Stanton with direction by Carl Forsman and choreography by Tracy Bersley. The zany comedy received its New York premiere at Primary Stages last fall where it garnered rave reviews. Performances begin Friday, October 23, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. for a limited engagement through Sunday, January 3, 2010 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Opening night is set for Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.


SHREK THE MUSICAL to End Broadway Run - 1/3/2010

SHREK THE MUSICAL®, the Tony Award®-winning production, will play its final performance on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. following 441 performances and 37 previews. The Toxic Avenger to Close January 3, 2010; National Tour Expected Fall 2010 - 1/3/2010

After a successful nine and a half month run, The Toxic Avenger, the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway musical, will end its New York run, having played over 300 performances at New World Stages on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010, to prepare for its national tour. The Toxic Avenger had its world premiere at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey where it broke box office records before transferring Off-Broadway, beginning previews on March 18, 2009 and officially opening on April 6, 2009.

OLEANNA to End Broadway Run - 1/3/2010

Producer Jeffrey Finn announced today that the first-ever Broadway production of OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, would end its Broadway engagement on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Starring Bill Pullman (in his Broadway return) and Julia Stiles (in her Broadway debut) and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt), OLEANNA is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students. Following an engagement last summer at The Mark Taper Forum, the Broadway run began previews on September 29 and opened on October 11 at The Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). As of the January date, the cumulative 14-week engagement will have played 15 previews and 97 performances.

SESSIONS, the musical about the everyday life of a New York therapist and his patients, will close after the matinee (3PM) on Sunday, January 3rd at the Algonquin Theater. SESSIONS is directed by Thomas Cote and written by Albert M. Tapper (From Where I Stand, Broadway: The Golden Age), produced by Jason Hewitt and Tony Sportiello/Algonquin Theater Productions. Regis Philbin will return to Live with Regis and Kelly on January 4, the Hollywood Reporter reveals. Philbin, 78, has been on leave from the show since November 30 to undergo and recover from hip replacement surgery.


Linney Set For MTC's TIME STANDS STILL - 1/5/2010
