Now in its third smash year, HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER, starring Kevin James Doyle and Olivia Petzy, will celebrate its 300th performance this Saturday, November 29th with a special added 1:30 PM holiday matinee at Planet Hollywood Times Square.


Prospect Theater Company Extends THE UNDERCLASSMAN Through 11/30 - 11/30/2014

Before performances begin November 9, Prospect Theater Company has announced an extension of performances for The Underclassman, an original musical that explores F. Scott Fitzgerald's coming of age as a writer on the eve of World War I, and his first romance with the elusive debutante Ginevra King. Performances are November 9 through November 30 (originally scheduled through November 23), at The Duke on 42nd Street, located at 229 W. 42nd Street, NYC. Press Opening is November 19 at 7:30pm.

Stage 72 Presents HIDDEN TREASURES III, 11/30 - 11/30/2014

Noted composer/lyricist/arranger and two-time Grammy Award nominee Larry Kerchner will be celebrated on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 7 PM at Stage 72 at The Triad, 158 West 72nd Street, in Manhattan. More than a dozen stellar music performers from New York's theatre, cabaret and jazz stages will perform songs with melodies, lyrics and/or arrangements created by Kerchner, at this third annual tribute performance, titled "Hidden Treasures III: More Songs of Larry Kerchner."

Segal Center Presents Puppetry Screenings, Panel - 12/1/2014

The Segal Center is pleased to celebrate the publication of The Routledge Companion to Puppetry and Material Performance (Routledge, 2014), edited by Dassia N. Posner, Claudia Orenstein, and John Bell, with a full day of curated screenings followed by excerpted performances and a panel discussion featuring John Bell (Director of the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut) and Claudia Orenstein (Associate Professor at Hunter College and The Graduate Center, CUNY). The event takes place on Monday, December 1, with screenings from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. performance and conversation.


Lee Roy Reams Hosts TACT's CATCH A RISING STAR Benefit - 12/1/2014

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre will hold its Winter Benefit on Monday, December 1st at The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street). The festive evening entitled "Catch A Rising Star" will be emceed by legendary Broadway song and dance man Lee Roy Reams and will feature musical performances by eight young up-and-coming Broadway talents. Houston Grand Opera to Hold #GivingTuesday Fundraiser - 12/2/2014

Houston, November 7, 2014-Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will hold a special fundraising day on Tuesday, December 2, as part of#GivingTuesday, an international movement to create a day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. The program celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations. It was launched in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y in New York and the United Nations Foundation, and has been adopted by organizations around the globe. HGO is one of the first performing arts groups in the U.S. to hold its own #GivingTuesday campaign.

Morris Stars in HGO's A CHRISTMAS CAROL World Premiere - 12/5/2014

American tenor Jay Hunter Morris will replace Anthony Dean Griffey in Houston Grand Opera's world premiere production of A Christmas Carol, it was announced today by HGO Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers. Mr. Griffey has withdrawn for health reasons. The 90-minute opera, commissioned by HGO from composer Iain Bell and librettist Simon Callow, is written for a single singer performing the role of The Narrator. A Christmas Carol runs from December 5 through 21, 2014, at the Wortham Theater Center, and is suitable for ages 12 and up.
