Hereafter Musical, a thought provoking new musical by Vinnie Favale and Frankie Keane about the age old human desire to communicate with our loved ones who have passed, told from the perspectives of both the living and the departed, is slated for an open-ended run, Off-Broadway, at the Snapple Theater Center (1627 Broadway) with previews beginning on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Co-Author's Favale and Keane draw from their own personal losses in the inspiring look at the beyond, which will have its official opening on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 4:45PM.


Erica Papillion-Posey and Clayton G. Williams Bring SOULS OF THE SOIL to Denver - 10/25/2014

New Musical LITTLE DANCER Begins Performances at the Kennedy Center - 10/25/2014

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the world premiere musical production Little Dancer in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater from October 25 to November 30, 2014. The musical features book and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lynn Ahrens, music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty, and direction and choreography by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Press night is Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.


Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera to Present UN BALLO IN MASCHERA - 10/25/2014

Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera (LAMet) is a local community Opera Company presenting grand opera in intimate settings and at prices almost anyone can afford. LAMet will stage Giuseppe Verdi's thrilling UN BALLO IN MASCHERA on four dates: October 25-26, and November 1-2, 2014 in downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica.


CSO to Present Tribute to Boston Pops - 10/25/2014

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will be opening its 2014/15 Luken Holdings Pops Series with a Boston Pops Tribute: A Salute to Arthur Fiedler and John Williams on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm at the Tivoli Theatre. Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt will be leading the first half with marches and light classics, favorites of Arthur Fiedler, a 50-year conductor for the Boston Pops. Works include The Washington Post, the George M. Cohan Salute, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, and Rachmaninoff's popular 2nd piano concerto. Michael Chertock, a featured guest with the Boston Pops for several years, will be featured on piano.


O BRAZIL Film Series Kicks Off 10/25 at Museum of the Moving Image - 10/25/2014

To celebrate the strength and vitality of the Brazilian film industry, Museum of the Moving Image will present a new ongoing series, O Brazil: Contemprary Brazilian Cinema. Featuring works by established directors and emerging filmmakers, this showcase will present a bird's eye view of a thriving film scene. The first installment, from November 22 through December 20, 2014, will include three films: My Mother Is a Character (Minha mãe e uma peca), starring the popular theater and TV comedian Paulo Gustavo in Brazil's biggest box-office hit of 2013; Casa Grande, Fellipe Barbosa 's coming-of-age drama that has been a hit at several international film festivals; and The Music According to Antonio Carlos Jobim (A musica segundo Tom Jobim), a musical tribute to the artist who popularized bossa nova, by Cinema Novo pioneer Nelson Pereira dos Santos.


SHUT UP SIT DOWN AND EAT Opens Off-Broadway - 10/26/2014

The hit "plomedy," SHUT UP SIT DOWN & EAT returns for NYC for a limited 12-week engagement at Times Square's Snapple Theater Center (1627 Broadway at 50 Street). Written by and starring four New York based comedians, Tina Giorgi (Falling Up, 'The Late Late Show,' 'Comics Unleashed,' 'Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn'), Joe Moffa ("Blue Bloods," Carlito's Way), Chris Monty (PBS's 'The Business of Comedy,' Biloxi Blues) and Eric Tartaglione (That Championship Season, NBC's 'Last Comic Standing'), directed by Eve Brandstein.


Mint Theater Closes THE FATAL WEAKNESS - 10/26/2014

Jonathan Bank, Artistic Director of the Drama Desk and OBIE Award-winning Mint Theater, today announced that the Mint's latest production: The Fatal Weakness by George Kelly, would extend performances through October 26th to accommodate audience demand even before it opens. Jesse Marchese directs a cast that features Cliff Bemis, Cynthia Darlow, Kristin Griffith, Sean Patrick Hopkins, Patricia Kilgarriff, and Victoria Mack. Opening Night is set for Monday September 15th (7pm) at Mint's home (311 West 43rd Street, just west of 8th Avenue).


Joyce DiDonato Launches Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series - 10/26/2014

This season, celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato curates a multi-part Carnegie Hall Perspectives series that showcases her vocal creativity and multifaceted talents, ranging from programs that include familiar and forgotten repertoire from the Baroque and Bel Canto eras to works by Jake Heggie written expressly for her. Her series kicks off on Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. as she sings the title role in a concert performance of Handel's Alcina alongside Harry Bicket and The English Concert.


La Jolla Playhouse Opens THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME - 10/26/2014

Due to popular demand, La Jolla Playhouse announces a week-long extension for its U.S. premiere production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, featuring a score by the multiple Academy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning team of composer Alan Menken (Newsies, Little Shop of Horrors) and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin), book by Peter Parnell (The West Wing, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) and direction by Scott Schwartz (Playhouse's Jane Eyre, Broadway's Golda's Balcony). Produced in association with Paper Mill Playhouse, by special arrangement with Disney Theatrical Productions, The Hunchback of Notre Dame will now run October 26 - December 14, 2014 in The Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre.

National Lampoon's Bayside! The Musical! - the hilarious unauthorized parody of the wholesome Saturday morning program "Saved by the Bell" - will present a special Halloween edition this year. For the week of Wednesday, October 29 through Saturday, November 1, the new show will be inspired on the classic 1991 "Mystery Weekend" episode of "Saved by the Bell." That week is also "Saved by the Bell" Costume Week: anyone who attends the musical dressed as their favorite character will receive a special prize. Dustin Diamond - the original "Screech" from the TV series - will be featured in every performance through December 6, playing Dustin Diamond, the role he was born to play.


Bedlam Theatre Stages THE SEAGULL and SENSE & SENSIBILITY in Rep - 10/30/2014

Musical Theatre West just announced yesterday that for its 2014-15 season of shows, they will be presenting the first production of the Broadway musical BIG FISH since its New York debut. The California show will also feature the original Broadway sets and costumes. BIG FISH will run October 31 - November 16, 2014. Based on the film by Tim Burton, the musical features music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August.

Opera Parallele to Present Premiere of MY HEAD IS FULL OF COLORS as Part of National Opera Week - 11/1/2014

San Francisco, CA, September 30, 2014 - Continuing its trailblazing tradition of presenting new and less familiar works of music theatre, Opera Parallele will give the world premiere of an opera based on author Catherine Friend's beloved children's book, My Head is Full of Colors, Saturday, November 1, at 11 am in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street. Written by Santa Cruz composer Chris Pratorius with libretto by Opera Parallele Artistic Director Nicole Paiement, the work is the first commission premiered by the Company and is being performed during National Opera Week (October 24-November 2). The production will feature 4th grade students from Creative Arts Charter Schoolperforming with soprano Carolyn Bacon and baritone Sergey Khalikulov. Laura Anderson is the stage director, costumes are designed by Elly Jessop; the singers and small instrumental ensemble will be conducted by OP Intern Conductor William Long.

Directed and edited by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Marlowe's two-part drama will be performed as one 3.5-hour play, plus a 30-minute intermission.
