Co-Opera Appoints New Artistic Director and General Manager

Ms Libby Ellis Chair of Co-Opera Inc. announced, on behalf of the Board of Co-Opera, the appointment, of Dr Josh van Konkelenberg as the company's new Artistic Director and General Manager. This appointment took effect from 2 July 2018.

Co-Opera Appoints New Artistic Director and General Manager Josh has studied music in Australia and the UK at the Royal College of Music. He received a Master of Music with distinction in 2012, and completed the Ph.D. in Composition (at the University of Adelaide) in the same year.

Co-Opera Appoints New Artistic Director and General Manager He is the recipient of several grants and awards including the Prize for Dux of the Organ Faculty at the Royal College of Music

He is currently touring with Opera Australia as Chorus-Master for regional production of Madame Butterfly and has held the position of Principal Organist at St Peter's Cathedral, Adelaide and Artist-in-Residence at Marryatville High School.

Ms Ellis continued: "Josh was appointed as Co-Opera's Musical Director for our recent highly successful production of "The Barber of Seville". He brings to Co-Opera his considerable experience of working with children and regional communities."

Co-Opera's Musical Salute to Brian Chatterton OAM


Departing Co-Opera supremo Brian Chatterton OAM takes a final bow from Co-Opera, who in turn salutes him in a series of sentimental Farewell Concerts "Celebrating with Song- a thirty year journey", to be performed over three nights in two venues this July.

The first concert at 7.30pm on Friday 13 July takes place in St Paul's Lutheran church, Hahndorf with the remaining two performances at 7.30pm on 14 and 15 July in Brian's old stomping ground, and the home of Co-Opera in Adelaide, the Thomas Edmonds Opera Studio, Adelaide Showground.

Performing are a representation of Co-Opera's most popular singers and musicians who will present a program of Co-Opera's celebrated and admired repertoire.
