In 2008, Readers of BWW met then ten year old Nicholas Dayton, a New Orleans musical theatre fan who made a connection with The cast of IN THE HEIGHTS when he posted YouTube videos of himself performing pitch-perfect renditions of the show's musical numbers. At the invitation of ITH star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nicholas joined the entire cast in filming "Dreams Come True", the video that inspired so many and made Nicholas' personal dreams come true.
But "what do you do when your dreams come true?"

The lyric from "Paciencia Y Fe" in the Tony Award winning IN THE HEIGHTS holds special meaning for now 12 year old Nicholas who says the lyric "has been my life for the last couple of years. I'm living the answer to that question."

"Lin and the entire cast really did make my dreams come true, but not just in ways that most people may think. They stayed my friends all this time and have supported me with all my dreams. All of the cast has looked out for me in amazing ways."

Nicholas has discovered that his dreams are coming true on a much larger scale than even he could imagine while standing on the stage at the Richard Rodgers theatre two years ago. The video led to Nicholas signing with an agent in New York. He appeared on PBS' "The Electric Company" and recently performed in a reading of "Pan" directed by Jeffrey Seller.

Nicholas is currently a finalist in Bob Evans' Singalong Video Contest. The first prize is a trip to Disney World. If YOU would like to help Nicholas' next dream come true, vote for "Mashed Potatoes Beatboxing by Nicholas. The contest ends on December 31.
