An Elm Street Tradition Continues With December Musical Production Of A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Starting December 7th Elm Street Cultural Arts Village's holiday tradition returns to Woodstock with the opening night of A Christmas Carol, a joyous and touching musical version of the Charles Dickens classic. When visited by the ghost of former business partner Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge examines his past, present, and future and learns the true spirit of the season, with the help of three ghosts along the way.

"A Christmas Carol is a part of Elm Street and our history," says Director/Choreographer and Elm Street's Associate Artistic Director Siobhan Brumbelow. "So many of our audience members look forward to seeing this holiday classic put to life on stage every year and it's a great way to celebrate this busy time of year with friends and family."

This particular adaptation is relatively new for Elm Street, as they have typically performed original scripts up through 2016. Elm Street will be presenting the Broadway version of A Christmas Carol, with music by Alan Menken of Disney fame (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin) and lyrics by Broadway veteran Lynn Ahrens (Schoolhouse Rock, Seussical, Ragtime). The original Broadway production opened in 1994 and ran for a decade.

The show is a true ensemble piece, utilizing a large 21-member cast of actors and actress of all ages to play multiple characters throughout. "With the exception of Scrooge, the entire cast plays more than one part," says Brumbelow. "They work together to seamlessly take us from scene to scene in the past, present, and future. One thing I stressed throughout the entire rehearsal process was the idea of community and ensemble. Through the course of the show, the audience and Scrooge realize how important everyone is to his life - they are all a part of it and influence it."

A Christmas Carol is presented in partnership with The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta. The show is running for three weeks from December 7th through December 24th and is perfect for families and audiences of all ages to ring in the joy of the holiday season. A Christmas Carol is rated PG for elements that may be frightening to young children. The complete performance schedule is as follows:
