A NIGHT WITH THE DEAD to Play The Kraine Theater This Fall

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade in association with Something from ABroad will present the World Premiere of Martha Lorena Preve Ayora's A Night With the Dead, directed by Paloma De Vega Centenera, October 26-29 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) with performances Thursday through Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets ($20) may be purchased in advance at www.horseTRADE.info. The performance will run approximately 60 minutes, with no intermission.

You don't talk about death, you don't mess with it, and you certainly don't question tradition. In a world where death is considered taboo, Catrina, a Mexican girl, will defy society's rules to find out where our loved ones go when they die. A Night with the Dead is a story about the origins of the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos and how one girl's drive can change the course of an afterlife.

The cast will feature Arjun Anand, Paloma De Vega, Bruno Fogagnoli, Fernanda Hidalgo, Naeem Mirza, Mayelyn Perdomo, and Shamell Santana with Lighting and Sound Design by Ryan Barto, Production Assistant Grant Fisher, and Assistant Director Katharine Nedder.

Martha Lorena Preve Ayora (Playwright) is a Mexican film and theater actress. She has studied acting in London, Mexico and New York. She started Something from ABroad to be able to share her traditions in this amazing city. She worked as a director in the company's last productions: Dog Sees God and Not another Christmas Story.

Paloma de Vega, (Director/Choreographer) is a dancer, actress, singer and choreographer. She studied in Real Conservatorio Profesional de danza and in New York Film Academy. Recent credits include Jesus Christ Super Star with The World Voice Ensemble and The Miracle of Christmas. She works as a dancer and choreographer in Surati for Performing Arts.

Something from ABRoad produces material from a variety of cultural backgrounds to give stories from abroad a voice in today's America. We are a theater company started by a couple of "broads" from abroad. We are proud to promote art created by women. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for actors from all over the world to perform on a stage in New York. We tell the stories of our people and our struggles as immigrants. We embrace the differences that an international ensemble brings to the table, and we make this diversity our strength.

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade is a theater development group with a focus on new work that produces a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater every season. FRIGID's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. FRIGID New York grew out of the annual FRIGID Festival, the first and only festival of its kind in New York City to offer artists 100% of their box office proceeds, and Horse Trade Theater Group, a self-sustaining theater development and management group.
