2017-18 Silver Palm Awards To Be Presented 12/10

"Mark your calendars now!," says Tony Finstrom, Executive Producer and co-founder of South Florida's Silver Palm Awards for theatre. "I know summer's just beginning, but Christmas will be here before we know it."

Established in 2007 to honor outstanding contributions to theatre in the region by playwright Finstrom, actress/talk show host Iris Acker, and theatre critic Ron Levitt, the 2017-18 Silver Palm Awards ceremony and cocktail reception will be held this year on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 7:00 PM, again at ArtServe, 1350 Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale,

Matt May, of Verve Central Productions, and a past Silver Palm recipient, will produce this year's event, and the multi-talented, multi-Silver Palm Award winning actor/playwright/designer/"host with the most," Michael McKeever, will again emcee the ceremony.

"The Silver Palm Awards mean so much to our theatre community, recognizing outstanding contributions made each season," says May. "And I'm very excited to produce this year's event. ArtServe is a wonderful partner, and last year's 10th anniversary ceremony was a fabulous night of fun for all who attended. This year promises to be even more fun!"

"The Silver Palm Awards are presented annually to those who've made an outstanding or unique contribution to South Florida theatre," explains Finstrom. "There are no nominees, no winners or losers, and no limit to the number of citations given. It's one of the biggest yearly networking parties for our theatre community and, from my point of view, it's so entertaining to watch everyone come together and have a great time, while they celebrate some amazing work."

The names of the recipients of this year's Silver Palm Awards, voted on by theatre journalists of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, will be announced in October (covering the season designated from September 1st, 2017 to August 31st, 2018), along with details about reservations for this event.
