Melora Hardin, of NBC's "The Office" fame, has been writing songs and singing since she was a young girl of about 10 years old. Not unlike the joke "I'm really a waitress who can only get work as an actress," Melora is a singer who has been kept busy acting for her entire career, thus far. And that's in addition to being married and having two kids.

She decided to put together a show of original numbers and other music, influenced by Broadway, Jazz and Standards, and debut it in Los Angeles, at Catalina Jazz Club on Sunset.

Melora has been sneaking back and forth to New York and finally engaged Musical Director Ben Toth and Director Richard Jay-Alexander to lead the way. Jay-Alexander has worked with many of the best - Ricky Martin, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Bernadette Peters, Betty Buckley, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Polly Bergen, Bette Midler and many more. Most recently, Jay-Alexander directed the off-Broadway play, A Safe Harbor for Elizabeth Bishop and concert productions for some of the world's greatest entertainers. Toth as a musical director has performed extensively with Andrea McArdle, Mandy Patinkin, and Michael Tucker/Jill Eikenberry. In 2003, Toth music directed Tony-Award-Winner Duncan Sheik's The Nightingale. Jay-Alexander and Toth have worked together many times.

BroadwayWorld's own James Sims sat in on Hardin's rehearsal before catching up with the actress to talk about her singing background, working with Alexander and how she juggles film and television roles with motherhood and song-writing.

This exclusive engagement will take place on Friday, January 4th at 9 PM, Saturday, January 5th at 9 PM and Sunday, January 6th at 7:30 PM located at Catalina Jazz Club, 6725 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028. For ticket information please go to www.catalinajazzclub.com or call 323-466-2210.
