Lyn Gardner Announced as Master on MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins

Lyn Gardner, one of the UK's leading theatre critics, a writer for The Guardian newspaper and the new Associate Editor of The Stage, has been named as a new Master on the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins.

Lyn joins other new Masters Rob Drummer, Artistic Director of Boundless Theatre, Lisa Goldman, former Artistic Director of the Soho Theatre and author of the acclaimed book "The No Rules Handbook for Writer" and Marion Nancarrow, BBC Radio Drama Executive Producer who runs the BBC's International Radio Playwriting Competition.

The new Masters are being appointed as part of The Year of Celebration, a year long celebration of new writing in the UK to mark the 5th anniversary of the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins course, which is one of the UK's leading scriptwriting courses.

The course has been run since it's creation by Course Leader Jennifer Tuckett, alongside 11 Masters who have led the way in the industry, with an aim to improve writing training and explore how best to train writers in the UK.

The original 11 Masters include Ola Animashawun, founder of The Royal Court Theatre's young writers programme, Kate Rowland, founder of BBC Writersroom, John Yorke, founder of the BBC Writers Academy, Fin Kennedy, Artistic Director of Tamasha Theatre Company and founder of Schoolwrights, Nina Steiger, Senior Dramaturg at the National Theatre, David Edgar, founder of the UK's first MA in Playwriting, Philip Shelley, instigator of the Channel 4 screenwriting course, Lucy Kerbel, founder of Tonic Theatre, Caroline Jester, former Dramaturg at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and author of "Playwriting Across the Curriculum", Stephen Jeffreys, former Literary Associate at The Royal Court Theatre whose Playwriting Masterclasses have led the way and Steve Winter, co-founder of the Old Vic New Voices 24 Hour Plays and Director of the Kevin Spacey Foundation.

As a new Master, Lyn Gardner will be part of this year's London Writers' Week, which aims to provide access to and showcase the best new ideas going on in new writing in the UK.
