I wonder if anyone is planning on checking this new musical featuring Louise Dearman and Lauren Samuels out when it opens at Leicester Curve next month? I've been following it and from what's been released so far i think it looks/sounds very promising. I know that it's very much planning/hoping for a West End transfer eventually.

If you aren't familiar or up to date i've included some videos below.

Any show with two of the UK's genuine world class musical theatre leading ladies plus the fantastic Tom Milner heading the cast has to be worth checking out!

I've booked my ticket, hotel and train to see this on April 29!

To be fair to Tom i've not seen him anything but from what i've heard in the various videos and clips released so far he doesn't appear to have the strongest voice. Maybe it's not vital for the role though so it won't matter so much. I mean he can hold a tune and he sounds ok, but i will have to be convinced when i see him live.

Tom was superb in Soho Cinders - he's a brilliantly intuitive actor with immense stage charisma and he sang quite beautifully. And there are lots of videos of him on youtube singing pop/rock covers and his own singer-songwriter stuff and his vocals sound terrific.

The cast and clips are intriguing. I am assuming that this will have very little connection to the actual novel except for basic themes and characters? Because the novel really really would not make a good musical...

I believe so, i've seen nothing in any of the videos, interviews and press so far that suggests it won;t be but there's no way of knowing until it opens and people can report back.

Btw, a new song has been released that i rather like called The Last Page

What accents are they supposed to have? I can't decide if they sound American or somewhere in the North of England...

Just English. No particular regional accent, just whatever the actor in particular has.

Tom Milner just happens to have a very strong northern accent.

Im in two minds whether to book for this show. On the one hand, I want to see it because it is a new musical with an original score, but on the other, the songs I have heard so far do absolutely NOTHING for me. They just seem to be like generic pop ballads that so many writers of musical theatre seem to favour at the moment. Plus, they seem to hyping up the sets never a good thing in my opinion. The best shows I have seen are ones with very minimal set, as this is when I find there is more creativity in what is trying to be achieved.

Why not? It just up the road from you and the seats are fairly cheap.

I am going to see this in 2 weeks time and have made the mistake of double booking Miss Saigon for. The evening, so don't know howI will get back to London in time?

I really like that new song i linked to a few posts above. It's the one i most like from the ones released so far and probably the most traditional musical theatre sounding one out of the lot, which whilst i actually quite like them,do agree about the fairly generic contemporary ballad nature.

POL, you could just about do it if there are no travel delays and you don't hang about! WaterBabies matinee starts at 2.15. so I would guess you'll be out by 5. You can get to the station in 15 minutes if you hurry and there's a 5.24 train that gets into St Pancras at 6.32. Even if you miss that & get the 5.52., it gets into St Pancras at 7.02 & St Pancras is about a 20/25 minute walk to the Prince Edward. Your only problem will be if the train is late (but, of course, trains are sadly often late lol) Go for it!

Hopefully the 5:24 train, or earlier, gives me an opportunity to then have a coffee. If I remember the theatre isn't too far from the station? Then I probably jump the Pic line to Leicester Square. Just hit me a journey from Leicestet To Leicester Square. It is doable, even if there is a slight delay.

I've not really heard anything from the score, apart from a clip from one song. Personally I generally prefer not to listen to songs from a new musical before seeing the show if possible - prefer to have them revealed as the show unfolds.

The casting alone is enough to have me rush to book a ticket and head up to Leicester . I may end up loving it or I may end up hating it. Either way, getting to hear Lou and Lauren sing anything will make it worth the trip.

I agree, Bob - I rarely listen to scores before seeing a new show. That is not how they are intended to be heard.

It's also difficult to argue with such a cast!

It's worth mentioning in case anyone missed the news that Richard E Grant will be appearing in this. He will appear in the form of a hologram and interact on stage with the rest of the cast as live throughout the piece.

I am keeping away from the temptation of listening, prefer to see the show cold, the score people don't like might work really well in the show or vice versa.

I listened to a clip of the A to Z of Mrs P and was blown away bu one of the songs, however seeing the show turned out to be a bit of a turd.
