I'll be heading into London again on Thursday and will be seeing the workshop production of the new musical BRITISH BOY IN BROOKLYN by Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary at the Landor - and was wondering whether anyone else from the board is planning to see this.

Brunger and Cleary are the freshest and most talented young musical theatre creative partnership in the UK IMO and I'm really looking forward to seeing this. They wrote the musicals JET SET GO, THE GREAT BRITISH SOAP OPERA and MALORY TOWERS and are currently working on a musical based on Sue Townsend's SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE. And Pippa recently won the 2013 Arts Foundation Award for musical theatre composition.

Thursday's show is part of the Landor's "Page To Stage" season of new musical theatre. Hope to see some of you there supporting new musical theatre writing.

Yes, Scripps, indeed there is! I was lucky enough to hear a couple of songs from the score last March when Jake and Pippa were amongst the songwriters showcased at Simon Greiff's cabaret of new writing on the Battersea Barge (which my collaborator Joe Sterling and I were also involved with). They were commissioned to write it by David Pugh. Really funny and fabulous stuff. Brunger and Cleary are seriously talented MT writers.

(Jake Brunger was also assistant director of Calendar Girls and Deathtrap in the West End.)

What a sheer delight of a show! Hilariously funny, enjoyable and touching in the right places. Will be very interested to watch the continued development of this piece. It has the potential to be something really special.
