Milan Govedarica and Tullaroan Productions announce the national tour dates for the world première of Rabbitskin, which opens at Bradford Theatre in the Mill on Monday January 29 and closes at the Lowry Manchester on Friday March 1. The production is a new piece of writing by Dominic Grace. Rabbitskin was originally commissioned by West Yorkshire Playhouse and developed as part of WYP/Theatre in the Mill new writing season in 2012.
"Cal says everyone's story's the same. Get born, grow up, get a job, get wed, have kids, work, get sick, get better, get sick, get better, get sick, die. I think he's wrong."

Joe can name his 20 favourite authors straight off the top of his head and quote his favourite books perfectly. He's a master storyteller like his father, a man who can make the ghosts and monsters of Irish legends seem as real as the rabbits he skins and cuts up on the kitchen table. Stripped right back to the performer in a simple bare space, the piece draws you into the character of Joe and his stories. Joe's charm and confidence mask a deeper vulnerability and eventually reveals the reasons Joe finds his own story so difficult to tell.

This hard-hitting monologue takes contemporary issues such as mental health, violence, 'problem families' and makes them real and personal through the character of Joe, an intelligent, articulate, troubled teenage boy.

Luke Adamson plays Joe. His theatre credits include Brian Looks Like Alan Rickman (Black Coffee Theatre); All My Sons by Arthur Miller, Brassed Off and Enjoy by Alan Bennett (York
Theatre Royal); The Cherry Orchard, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream, Road and the UK Premiere of Sandholm by Anna Bro (ALRA). TV credits include Raven (BBC); Heartbeat and The Royal Today (ITV); The Garden (BBC/Tiger Aspect).

Chris Hill directs. His theatre credits include Narcissus & Echo chamber opera by Anja Djordjevic (The Lowry, Theatre in the Mill and King's Head); Crash Pad (West Yorkshire Playhouse); Me, As A Penguin by Tom Wells (Lowry, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Arcola); Osterley (Urban Scrawl Radio Project); DUST (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Kidnapping Agatha (West Yorkshire Playhouse); Roald Dahl's The Witches, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Sweeney Todd and West Side Story (Edinburgh Festival). As Associate Director: The Wiz (Birmingham REP, West Yorkshire Playhouse), Secret Garden by Gary Lyons (Birmingham REP). As Assistant Director: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Headlong), Swanhunter (Opera North and tour), Il Signor Bruschino and La Scala di Seta (BYO), Bedroom Farce, Othello, Peter Pan and Don't You Leave Me Here (West Yorkshire Playhouse).

Written by Dominic Grace, whose work includes Goodnight Mrs Thatcher (Northern Bullits), It's A Lovely Day Tomorrow (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Play Up, Play Up (I Love West Leeds Festival), Riot, Rebellion & Bloody Insurrection (Red Ladder) and Love Me Contender.
