Wicked, the hugely popular musical that tells the untold story of the Witches of Oz, has been named "Best Family Fun" at the BT Visit London People's Choice Awards 2009.

The annual People's Choice Awards give the public the chance to vote for their top things to see and do in the capital. Other nominees in The Evening Standard-sponsored "Best Family Fun" category included the London Eye, ZSL London Zoo and the Science Museum.

Three extra Christmas matinees have been added to the schedule: Tuesday 22 December, Thursday 24 December and Tuesday 29 December 2009, all at 2.30pm. Tickets are now on sale. There are no 7.30pm performances on 24 and 25 December 2009.

Last week (ending 31 October 2009) the musical played its fourth highest ever grossing week, taking £807,997 at the Box Office. 20,000 people attended nine performances of the show. The international hit has now played over 1300 performances and been seen by more than two million theatregoers at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.

Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed by Joe Mantello. Wicked is based on the novel, Wicked - The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire.
