Victoria Hamilton-Barritt & James Fox to Join Willemijn Verkaik in Concert at The Ambassadors Theatre

Special guests are announced today for the one-off solo concert of Dutch vocal powerhouse Willemijn Verkaik, playing for one night only at the Ambassadors Theatre next Tuesday 25 August 2015.

Willemijn will be joined on stage by special guests Victoria Hamilton-Barritt and James Fox.

Victoria Hamilton-Barritt is well known for her many stage roles including Daniela in the London Premiere of In The Heights at Southwark Playhouse, Diana in the Broadway revival production of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy at Leicester Curve, Alex in Flashdance at the Shaftesbury Theatre and Rizzo in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre.

James Fox's many theatre credits include Judas in the UK Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, Piano Man in Movin' Out on Broadway and in the West End, The American in the UK, European and Canadian tour of Chess and Paul McCartney in Let it Be on Broadway and in the West End. James first came to prominence on the BBC's Fame Academy, going on to represent the UK at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest and performing to a television audience of over 300 million. Signing to Sony Music that year, his debut single 'Hold on to Our Love' reached number 13 in the UK singles chart. His follow-up album included a collaboration with Sir Tim Rice for 2012's official Poppy Appeal single, 'Landlocked'.

The evening will be hosted by WhatsOnStage's features editor Ben Hewis.

Accompanied by a live band and joined by special guests, Willemijn will take a journey through some of the greatest classic and contemporary musicals of all time, as well as celebrating some of the iconic songs that have defined her career so far.

Willemijn Verkaik is best known for playing the role of Elphaba in Wicked, having performed the role in the West End, on Broadway, in Germany and the Netherlands. Willemijn is also the only actress to have performed the role in multiple languages. Other stage credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in the West End, and Mamma Mia!, Aida and We Will Rock You in Germany. Willemijn also voiced Elsa in the Dutch and German versions of Disney's smash hit animated film Frozen. Recordings include the German cast recording of Wicked, and appearances on Scott Alan's albums What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up and Live.

This one-off UK concert promises to be a magical and intimate evening with one of theatreland's greatest contemporary vocalists.

Willemijn will also be bringing her concert to New York for two performances only, playing at 54 Below on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August 2015 at 7.00pm. Willemijn will be joined in New York by special guest Stephen Schwartz, as well a fellow Wicked alumni who will be revealed on the night.
