Theatre503 presents Wild Horses- A new play by Nimer Rashed. Directed by Nadia Latif, the show runs 15th June - 10th July 2010. "You ever done something so bad you can't forgive yourself?"

The Play
Seventeen year old Ellie has finally come home to face the music. Can her family, or even her friends, get over her betrayal? Who is in control of her future? Multiple award-winner Nimer Rashed's powerful debut play is a darkly comic and startling exploration of family, folly and forgiveness.

The Cast
Jade Anouka (Love's Labours Lost, Globe, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Taming of the Shrew, RSC), Jessica Clark (Respect, Birmingham Rep), Amanda Daniels, Tom Kanji and John Trindle.

The Writer
Nimer Rashed worked for Miramax Films in London, Cannes and New York. He then spent two years working as a teacher in rural Japan. He has now won several awards for his writing, including Soho Theatre's Westminster Prize, the decibel Penguin Prize, and the Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award at the International Emmy Awards in New York. His debut short film Baghdad Express, commissioned by the UK Film Council, premiered at the London Film Festival in 2008, and has gone on to screen at festivals worldwide. Wild Horses is his first play.

503FIVE - A Launch Pad to Success
Nimer Rashed is an inaugural member of the 503Five, Theatre503's group of hitherto unproduced playwrights selected from over two hundred of the country's most exciting new voices. As recipients of Theatre503's first ever commissioning awards, they will be resident with the company for a year in a unique programme that gives playwrights both artistic opportunities and enables them to be part of the decision-making process of Theatre503.

"Theatre503 gave me a launch pad to kick-start my professional writing career, enabling me to put on a full production and showcase my work. There is nothing more tangible or more invigorating to a playwright. This contact puts you back in touch with your audience and reminds you why you do it. Essentially it makes you a better writer", says Rashed.

Theatre503 premiered the Olivier Award-winning play The Mountaintop by Katori Hall in 2009.
