The Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts musical revue, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, is a smash hit Off Broadway show which in July 2008 ended a 12 year run of over 5,000 performances at New York's Westside Theatre. In August 2008 Edinburgh's Fringe fans have been flocking to Take Note Theatre's production at George Square. And it's not hard to see why. It's a great production of a great show.

The show is a series of vignettes of scenes and songs about love and relationships, full of ascerbic wit and charm provided by Dipietro's book and lyrics and an eclectic mix of catchy tunes and tender musical moments from the pen of composer Roberts. And all of the energy, humour and pure enjoyment of the show is projected with precision in this production via the clever and perfectly observed staging of director/choreographer, Luke Sheppard.

The show's company is made up of eight young performers (Sarah Barratt, Katie Birtill, Kaytee Crook, Maddie Moate, Nick Cork, Alex Johnston, Tom Lee, Mark Senior) - often playing characters who are well advanced of their actual years - and each single line, each facial expression and each vocal delivery never fails to hit the mark. There is not a weak link in this cast, all of whom deserve the huge applause they have been consistently rewarded with through the show's run. Take Note Theatre (whose other Fringe production, Jet, Set Go is also wowing its audiences) is clearly a company to take note of. Their sheer exuberance and raw (but genuine) talent represents what the Edinburgh Fringe is all about.
