Vera Wang wasn't available when Maria married Captain von Trapp, but the celebrated designer Mainbocher, famous for creating the dress Wallis Simpson wore when she married the former Edward VIII, was on hand to design Mary Martin's wedding gown in the original Broadway production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

When Florence Henderson starred in the 1961 national tour, Lucinda Ballard, who had designed all of the costumes for the Broadway production that weren't worn by Mary Martin, got the honors for Maria's big day. The most famous Maria wedding dress is certainly the one Dorothy Jeakins created for Julie Andrews in the 1965 film.

Many talented designers have taken a crack at this plum assignment throughout the years, so to help celebrate New York Fashion Week, Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagem Company asks which of these six Maria gowns do you prefer?
