Monty Python's Spamalot continues an extensive tour in 2011, stopping off at various venues in the UK and Ireland

Featuring Eric Idle as GOD* 

Comedian, TV and Radio presenter, performance poet (oh please) and female impersonator Phill Jupitus takes on the role of Arthur King of the Britons

National Treasure Todd Carty has been tricked into signing up again for the whole tour to play Patsy (the name says it all really)

Jodie Prenger has been conned into announced that she will also perform the role of The Lady of the Lake in Llandudno, Plymouth, Manchester, Cambridge, Bradford, Aylesbury, Blackpool, Dublin and Belfast

The UK Cast recording of Spamalot, produced by John Du Prez, is available to download now on iTunes (I what?) and will be released in stores and via Amazon UK on November 30th 2010

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is an almost-new musical with a book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score, (well, almost) created by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. The UK tour began on May 29th 2010 in Wimbledon and will continue staggering wending its way through the countryside in 2011.

Phill Jupitus is best known for his appearances on TV shows such as QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks and as a presenter and guest on multiple radio shows on BBC Radio, so imagine our surprise when we discovered that he could act as well! Apparently he was really rather good when he took on the role of Edna Turnblad in the West End production of Hairspray. (Phill will join the tour in Plymouth from January 31 - casting for the previous weeks in Llandudno and Southend to be announced soon - when we can convince someone!)

Everybody's favourite Northern Nancy, Jodie Prenger will reprise her role as The Lady of the Lake in a variety of hand-picked locations. Lovely Todd Carty continues to bang some coconuts together as Patsy. He has valiantly looked on the Bright Side of Life since the beginning of the tour in May 2010 and will continue to assist Arthur on his Quest for the Grail until the tour ends in June 2011. Everyone's favourite Python (After John and Michael) Eric Idle will star as God via 21st century technology from his LA poolside.
Meanwhile, Grammy Award winner John Du Prez has been busy producing the UK Cast Recording. Featuring Jodie Prenger, Marcus Brigstocke and Todd Carty, it was recorded at the Churchill Theatre Bromley and will be officially released on November 29th (buy, buy buy!). For those of you who can't wait that long the recording is available on iTunes now and to pre-order on the Amazon and Dress Circle websites.

Audiences all around the world have been roaring with laughter since Monty Python's Spamalot won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005. Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings (cancelled - health and safety) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people. The show features fantastic tunes which are catchier than the plague He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the Nation's Favourite Comedy Song (Reader's Digest Poll 2009) Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.

Spamalot is directed by Christopher Luscombe (if he can find the time) and designed by Hugh Durrant (if he can find the drawing board). Jenny Arnold will choreograph an unlikely group of non-dancers; and Simon Beck will attempt to supervise the music. Lighting design will be by Nick Richings provided no one steals the follow spots and Terry Jardine will make it audible for all
