Nigel Lindsay Cast as Nathan Detroit in GUYS AND DOLLS at Phoenix Theatre

It has been officially announced today that Nigel Lindsay will join the West End cast of GUYS AND DOLLS for a limited time, playing Nathan Detroit in the Phoenix Theatre production May 26-June 26. He takes over from Richard Kind, whose last performance is May 22. Lindsay last played the role in the West End run of Michael Grandage's 2005 Donmar Warehouse production.

Lindsay's recent stage credits include: Bull (Young Vic); Speed-The-Plow with Lindsay Lohan (Playhouse Theatre); A Small Family Business (National Theatre); Richard II (RSC); The Same Deep Water As Me (Donmar Warehouse); Shrek The Musical (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane); Broken Glass (Tricycle Theatre); Sucker Punch (Royal Court Theatre); Under The Blue Sky (Duke of York's Theatre); The Homecoming (Almeida Theatre); and Awake and Sing (Almeida Theatre). Television credits include: Victoria (ITV); Death in Paradise (BBC); You, Me and the Apocalypse (NBC Universal/Sky 1); Foyle's War (ITV); The Tunnel (Sky); The Fear (Channel 4); Spooks (BBC); The Relief of Belsen (Channel 4); Rome (HBO/BBC); Jam and Jerusalem (BBC); and Dressing For Breakfast (Channel 4). Film credits include: Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, Four Lions, On a Clear Day and Rogue Trader.

The Guys and Dolls cast also includes Samantha Spiro as Miss Adelaide, Oliver Tompsett as Sky Masterson, Siubhan Harrison as Sarah Brown, Gavin Spokes as Nicely Nicely Johnson, Billy Boyle as Arvide and Jason Pennycooke as Benny. Gordon Greenberg's production, which began at Chichester Festival Theatre and played at the Savoy before transferring to the Phoenix, features choreography from Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright, design by Peter McKintosh, musical supervision, musical direction and dance arrangements from Gareth Valentine, and orchestration from Larry Blank. The classic Broadway musical boasts an indelible Frank Loesser score and witty book from Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, based on the stories of Damon Runyon.
