On December 9th, National Theatre Live will broadcast acclaimed production of HAMLET. Starring Rory Kinnear, directed by Nicholas Hytner

The broadcasts will be shown on screens across NY City & throughout the U.S.

WHAT:
National Theatre Live continues its season with the National's acclaimed production of HAMLET, starring Rory Kinnear & directed by Nicholas Hytner. National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK's National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world.

WHERE:
In the New York City area, screenings continue at Brooklyn Academy Of Music, NYU's Skirball Center, City Cinema 123, Kew Gardens Cinema, Fairfield University (CT), the Shakespeare Theatre Company (DC) and more.

The broadcast will also be shown on screens across the United States including the Mann Theatre in Hollywood, Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe, NM, Coolidge Corner Theatre in Boston, MA, Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, CA, Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center in Rockport, MA, Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth University and many more.

ABOUT HAMLET:
Shakespeare's HAMLET, directed by Nicholas Hytner, will be broadcast from the National's Olivier Theatre. Following his celebrated performances at the National in Burnt by the Sun, The Revenger's Tragedy, Philistines and The Man of Mode, Rory Kinnear plays Hamlet; the cast also includes Clare Higgins (Gertrude), Patrick Malahide (Claudius), David Calder (Polonius), James Laurenson (Ghost/Player King) and Ruth Negga (Ophelia). Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, sees his father's ghost. Tormented with loathing and consumed by grief, he must avenge his father's murder. What he cannot foresee is the destruction that ensues.

NEXT:
Following Hamlet, season two will continue on January 13, 2011 with the Tony Award winning musical, FELA! about Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti starring original cast member and 2010 Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah.
