Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap has today announced it is now booking through to its 100th birthday in 2052. The Mousetrap originally opened in 1952 starring Richard Attenborough and his wife Sheila Sim.

The Mousetrap has teamed up with LondonTheatre.co.uk to promote the extension. To celebrate, LondonTheatre.co.uk will be donating all the profits of ticket sales for The Mousetrap sold on 1st April 2016 to Mousetrap Theatre Projects, a theatre education charity dedicated to bringing the magic of theatre into the lives of disadvantaged young people.

Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap at the St. Martin's Theatre in London has been the world's longest running stage production since 1958 and tonight celebrates its 26,417th performance. The centenary, on the 25th November 2052, will celebrate its 41,848th performance.

Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen, Producer of The Mousetrap since 1994 said: "I don't see why it should ever end. By extending booking until our 100th birthday in 2052, we make it possible for people to make their plans to come and see the world's longest running show whenever they like."

The 60th Anniversary - and first ever - UK tour of this beloved murder mystery has played more than 1000 performances and been seen by nearly 1 million people, having broken box office records in many of its tour venues.

Mousetrap Productions has also licensed 60 productions of The Mousetrap worldwide to mark the 60th year, and many of these have also broken their theatre records, from Cape Town to Philadelphia, Singapore to Sydney. The world's longest running show has been seen in every continent, with professional productions in Australia, China, Korea, Turkey, South Africa, Russia, Venezuela, and across Europe, the United States and Canada.

It has also been performed on Ascension Island, Mozambique, Nauru and the Antarctic.
