Lea Salonga to Join Il Divo for UK Tour this Fall
Lea Salonga will once more be hitting the road with Il Divo.
"I am thrilled to be joining Il Divo as they continue their Musical Affair tour worldwide," Salonga said in a statement. "Having such a passion for musical theater since an early age myself, I cannot imagine a more talented group to join forces with to share these timeless songs with audiences of all ages. And it doesn't hurt that they are so handsome to look at too."
Band member Sébastien "Seb" Izambard said: "We're excited to be bringing our brand new show with the incredible Lea Salonga 'home' to the UK. Delving into the world of Broadway repertoire is new territory for us, and being able to create a wonderful new show with such an established and celebrated star of many musicals is such an honour."
Salonga is best known for originating the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon, for which she won the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Theatre World awards. She was the first Asian to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical LES MISERABLES on Broadway. She also provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998).
