The Daily Mail writes that Janie Dee will play the title role in the new musical version of MRS HENDERSON PRESENTS at Theatre Royal, Bath, from August 15 to September 5, 2015. Emma Williams will play 'Maureen'.

"I get the feeling that you think one thing [about her], and she's something else," Dee told the Mail, talking about her character, Laura Henderson. "People who look one way and behave another are always revelations to us because we tend to judge people by what they look like - and that was probably the first thing that slapped me around the face about her."

The musical is adapted from the 2005 film, which starred Judi Dench, Bob Hoskins and Kelly Reilly.

With book and direction by Terry Johnson, MRS HENDERSON PRESENTS features lyrics by Don Black and music by George Fenton and Simon Chamberlain.

In MRS HENDERSON PRESENTS, "It's London, 1937, and recently-widowed eccentric, Laura Henderson, is looking for a way of spending her time and money when her attention falls on a run-down former cinema in Great Windmill Street. Hiring feisty impresario Vivian Van Damm to look after the newly renovated Windmill Theatre, the improbable duo present a bill of non-stop variety acts. But as war looms something more is required to boost morale and box office... When Mrs Henderson comes up with the idea of The Windmill Girls - glamorous young women posing as nude statues - audiences flock. And as the Blitz hits London, The Windmill provides a refuge for all, boasting the spirit-raising slogan 'We Never Close'."

Dee will be performing at The Crazy Coqs in Piccadilly next week before appearing in AH, WILDERNESS! at the Young Vic, followed by a run in THE SEAGULL at the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park this summer. Dee's past West End credits include BLITHE SPIRIT, MACK & MABEL, MY ONE AND ONLY, CAROUSEL, SHOW BOAT and CAN-CAN.
