Guest Blog: The Urchins On LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

Before the new UK tour of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS opens at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre tonight, the Urchins - Sasha Latoya (Crystal), Vanessa Fisher (Chiffon) and Cassie Clare (Ronnette) - give us an insight into the new production and how rehearsals are going.

Hey guys, it's the Urchins here: Crystal, Chiffon and Ronnette. So we heard y'all want to know what's going down on Skid Row - well take a seat because we gon' tell you...

We've been having a blast revamping this iconic show and putting our own spin on it. It's Little Shop like you've seen or heard it before, with exciting new choreography and a new score inspired by all the previous productions. As the Urchins, we are the narrators, the oracles, the keepers of this story, and your ticket into this dark, twisted world. We love watching, creating and manipulating the action and characters as the story unfolds.

Rehearsals have been going great - our favourite moment so far was meeting our leader, Audrey II, in all its glory. Our opening number is Crystal's favorite, Chiffon's best number is "The Meek Shall Inherit", as she enjoys the feeling of knowing something the audience doesn't, and Ronnette loves grooving to the party song "Some Fun Now".

Whilst developing our characters, we realised that we are different elements of the same driving force. Our mission and intentions are the same, however the ways in which we reach these goals sometimes differ. Just imagine us as three separate parts of the same entity.

We are supernatural beings, but we weren't always Urchins. Cassie (Ronnette) used to be a Cat, loving her life in the Jellicle Ball every night. Vanessa (Chiffon) used live in Baltimore, welcoming people to the Sixties. Whereas Sasha (Crystal) sang that there's no day but today, even when the RENT was due!

Already the cast has become like a little family, and we're super excited to hit road and take this wonderful show to theatres all over the UK - look for us in a town near you.
