Fly Theatre Company are to revive Mark Bartlett's office-based satire CONTRACTIONS at the end of October in a disused office space on Oxford Street in London.

The play, which sees a series of increasingly surreal meetings take place between a young office worker and her older, female manager, will be staged at Theatre Delicatessen, the pop-up theatre space which is currently staging the Theatre Souk 'marketplace performance' project. An audience of 40 people per performance will be invited into the office to observe the bizarre encounters just inches away.

'Contractions' was first staged to critical acclaim at the Royal Court in 2008, where Bartlett later enjoyed success with 'Cock'. His latest play 'Earthquakes in London' recently ended at the National Theatre.

In 'Contractions', the delicate line between our working and private lives is explored to a dangerous degree when a Manager discovers Emma and a colleague are involved in a relationship. How far will Emma go to satisfy the Manager and keep her job? As the meetings cascade towards chaos, Emma makes an unforgettable decision which the audience around her will be unlikely to forget in a hurry...

The play stars Abigail Rokison, most well-known for her role as Primrose Larkin in 'The Darling Buds of May', and Holly Beth Morgan, who appeared at Shakespeare's Globe this season. Fly Theatre Company recently presented the UK premieres of the off-Broadway musical 'Reefer Madness!' and the new musical 'Clouds' based on Aristophanes' play.

Theatre Delicatessen explores text-based theatre through working with ensemble casts and creating immersive performances. It occupies an abandoned office building behind Selfridge's on Oxford Street.

Dates: 26-30 October 2010, 8pm. Lunchtime matinee, 1pm on 27 October.
