Dame Diana Rigg to Join Edward Seckerson in Conversation at St. James Theatre

The St. James Theatre is delighted to announce that Dame Diana Rigg will join Edward Seckerson in conversation on Sunday 7 February 2016 at 3pm.

Dame Diana Rigg is one of the UK's most distinguished actresses and has had an extensive, award-winning career in theatre, film and television. Following her training at RADA, Dame Diana made her professional stage debut in 1957 in The Caucasian Chalk Circle and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company two years later. She made her Broadway debut in the 1971 in Abelard & Heloise, opposite the late Keith Michell, and played the title role in Medea in both London and New York, for which she won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. She has also appeared as Phyllis in the London production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies with Julia McKenzie and Daniel Massey and in the musical Colette.

Her film roles include Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Countess Teresa di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Edwina Lionheart in the classic horror film Theatre of Blood and Barbara Drummond in Arthur Hiller's Oscar-winning The Hospital.

She is perhaps best known on television for the role of Emma Peel in The Avengers. Other television credits include the chilling BBC miniseries Mother Love, for which she won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress; Mrs Danvers in Rebecca, for which she won an Emmy Award; and since 2013 she has played Lady Olenna Tyrell in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

Dame Diana Rigg was made a CBE in 1988 and a DBE in 1994.

Edward Seckerson is a writer and broadcaster specialising in classical music, opera and musical theatre. He has a long-standing career in British print and broadcasting media, was formerly music critic on The Independent and for six years presented the popular BBC Radio 3 series Stage and Screen. More recently he has conducted live interviews on stage with distinguished actors, classical musicians and stars of musical theatre.
