Lovers of the book or film adaptations will have a chance to meet characters such as Pip and Estella face-to-face and become a part of their tale.

Blacksmith's boy Pip is transformed into a London gentleman with the aid of a mysterious benefactor. But even as Pip's fortunes rise, he is haunted by his love for the beautiful, unattainable Estella whom he visited at Miss Havisham's house as a child.

Seen as one of Dickens greatest works, even by Dickens himself, Great Expectations holds sway academically as well as in popular culture. Poet Carol Ann Duffy cites the novel as one of her inspirations. Great Expectations continues to reach out to generation after generation of readers, Pip and his circumstances striking a cord of the fragility of fate.
