After a 20-year absence, acclaimed American singer Lorna Dallas returns to cabaret with Home Again, a music medley that pairs classics by celebrated composers with less well-known, personal favourites chosen by Dallas herself.

Dallas came to fame in the UK when she co-starred opposite Dame Cleo Laine in the revival of Show Boat, and subsequently performing in numerous other West End productions. In this one-hour performance, the incredibly talented soprano explains how music has a special resonance for her.

Dallas confides that she feels at home here, a feeling her audience shares. We are in a community of love and exhilaration, welcoming Dallas's exclamation to "let the good times roll". It's clear that she has been yearning for this moment for a long time, and despite being out of the cabaret circuit for two decades, her effortless return proves that she is a seasoned pro.

The entire room is full of admiration for Dallas - it is evident that they have followed her journey from the early stages. Admittedly I wasn't familiar with her career, so it was wonderful to hear her retell her history. These personal anecdotes are not only funny, but heartwarming and exciting too.

Dallas's vocal power and range is tremendous, and it's a pleasure to watch someone with so much joy on stage. Dallas has a gorgeous spirit - she's cheeky, charming and charismatic - and the consummate performer's ability to make it feel like she's forming a deep, personal connection with every audience member.

This well-structured, utterly compelling show is accompanied by Jason Carr, who Dallas calls her "musical heartbeat". It's a privilege to be a part of this special moment - Dallas is arguably one of the greatest performers of our time, and this rare event is not to be missed.
