BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT judge Amanda Holden is headed across the UK in a new production of Richard Harris's 1984 play STEPPING OUT.

The Daily Mail reports that the actress and TV personality will travel to Bath, Richmond and Cambridge from October 12, with an eye toward the West End, plus additional tour dates to be announced.

"Yes, I know how to tap badly, which is most important for Stepping Out" and its less-than-stellar dancing characters, Holden told the Mail.

The play centers on a group of eight people -- from very different backgrounds -- who attend the same tap dance class in North London each week. Holden will take on the role of 'Vera', described as "a perfectionist who hides a secret about her private life." Angela Griffin and Nicola Stephenson will also appear in the production.

STEPPING OUT was adapted for the big screen in 1991, starring Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters.

Director Maria Friedman added: "It's about having the courage to put one foot in front of the other, and Amanda and her friends are all up for it and it speaks to them after 30 years."

Holden, best known as a judge on ITV's BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT since it debuted in 2007, played the role of 'Sarah Trevanion' in WILD AT HEART and the title role in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award. Her more recent TV credits include SUPERSTAR, THIS MORNING and GIVE A PET A HOME.
