Whatsonstage.com reports that Craig Chalmers, a runner-up on the TV talent search "Any Dream Will Do," will headline an upcoming UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  The 16-week tour will open at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on August 20th, and then play other cities in the UK.

The tour, which will play concurrently with the London "Joseph," will be produced and directed by "Any Dream Will Do" judge Bill Kenwright, who also produces the West End production.  Lee Mead, who won "Any Dream Will Do," stars as Joseph in the West End.  The tour will play Bath, Brighton, Cheltenham, Kings Lynn, High Wycombe, Plymouth, Derry, Dublin, Aberdeen, Cardiff and Bristol, and will wrap up in Sheffield on December 8th, 2007.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat begins previews on July 6th and opens on July 18th at London's Adelphi Theatre.  It is playing an extended booking period through June 7th, 2008.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical will also star Preeya Kalidas as the Narrator, Dean Collinson as Pharaoh and Stephen Tate as Jacob/Potiphar/Guru.  John Alastair, Kate Alexander, Jennifer Ashton, Paul Basleigh, Verity Bentham, James Bisp, Tyman Boatwright, Simon Coulthard, Lucie Downer, Tom Gillies, Emma Harris, Pip Jordan, Louise Madison, Emily Mascarenhas, Sarah Meade, Nathaniel Morrison, Mark Oxtoby, Adam Pearce, Tamlyn Platts, Pippa Raine, Fiona Reyes, Ricky Rojas, Craig Scott, Jonathan Stewart, Kate Tydman, Russel Walker, Neal Wright and Danielle Young will comprise the ensemble.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with music by Webber and lyrics and book by Tim Rice, is a light-hearted reimagining of the biblical tale of Joseph, who is betrayed by his 11 brothers but finds a happy ending after adventures in Egypt.  The staging of the West End revival will be based upon that of Steven Pimlott's 1991 production.
