On Wednesday, August 27, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts will celebrate the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest in a multimedia, multi- disciplinary performance featuring Pacific Northwest Ballet, Band of Horses and Oregon Ballet Theatre. This performance is part of Wolf Trap Foundation's Face of America™ series.

As the first and only National Park for the performing arts, Wolf Trap developed Face of America, an original series of performances to celebrate the diverse people, histories and landscapes that exist in National Parks across the country.

The evening features the world premiere of Dirty Goods, a multimedia performance by the Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB), commissioned by Wolf Trap Foundation. Choreographer Andrew Bartee, an Everett, Washington native, created the original work, which integrates live dance, film, and music by the Portland-based band The Chromatics.

In April 2014, elements of Dirty Goods were filmed in several stunning locations in Olympic National Park, including the stones and sea stacks of Rialto Beach, the moss-covered trees of the Merymere Falls Trail, and the overlook of Hurricane Ridge. At the August 27 performance, PNB dancers will perform live elements while the high-definition film, captured by Wolf Trap partner Blue Land Media, is presented as a backdrop on a 45-foot, screen at the Filene Center.

The evening will open with Oregon Ballet Theatre presenting Trey McIntyre's Robust American Love in its Washington, D.C. premiere. Drawing its name from a line in a Walt Whitman poem celebrating "the great pastoral Plains, and on to Puget Sound and Oregon," this ballet is danced to the music of Seattle's indie rock stars Fleet Foxes. The work features Alison Roper, a principal ballerina with OBT who retired in April 2014, in a role created for her.

A live, acoustic 45-minute set by Grammy-nominated, Seattle-based indie group Band of Horses will follow. Band of Horses formed in Seattle, WA in 2004. Their acoustic tour follows the release of their latest record Live at the Ryman that features stripped down versions of ten of their most popular songs, including "The Funeral" and "No One's Going to Love You."

Now in its eighth iteration, Face of America has previously explored Yosemite National Park, Virgin Islands National Park, Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, Glacier National Park and more. Past performances were featured in a 90-minute PBS Great Performances special, titled "Dance in America, Wolf Trap's Face of America™" showcasing the series and available online at http://video.pbs.org/video/1099370504.

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, produces and presents a full range of performance and education programs in the Greater Washington area, as well as nationally and internationally. Wolf Trap features three performance venues: the outdoor Filene Center and Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods, both located at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and The Barns at Wolf Trap, located down the road from the national park and adjacent to the Center for Education at Wolf Trap. The 7,028-seat Filene Center is operated in partnership with the National Park Service and annually showcases an extensive array of diverse artists, ranging from pop, country, folk, and blues to classical music, dance, and theatre, as well as multimedia presentations, from May through September. The Barns at Wolf Trap is operated by the Wolf Trap Foundation year round, and during the summer months is home to the Grammy-nominated Wolf Trap Opera, one of America's outstanding resident ensemble programs for young opera singers. Wolf Trap's education programs include the nationally acclaimed Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods, a diverse array of arts education classes, grants, and a nationally recognized internship program.
