The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University (CATF) begins preview performances on Sunday, July 6th. All five plays that make up the 2014 repertory will receive at least two preview performances before the Festival officially opens on Friday, July 11th.

The 2014 Preview Schedule is twice as long as previous seasons, allowing patrons to take in the entire slate of plays at a "Pay-What-You-Can" Price. There are no advance reservations to previews and tickets are sold at a first-come, first-serve basis. Box office opens one hour prior to the scheduled start-time at each play's respective venue. Officially final dress rehearsals, all preview performances are fully produced with sets, lights, and costumes in place. Oftentimes, playwrights are still working on the plays throughout previews, with changes inserted all the way through opening night.

"The Previews allow the actors, directors, designers, and writers to experience the plays with an audience for the first time-in many ways, the preview audiences dictate the final choices made for the productions before they officially open," said Managing Director James McNeel. "They also provide a wonderful opportunity for patrons to enjoy professional, high-caliber theater at whatever price they care to pay. We are committed to the CATF experience being affordable to everyone and the Previews present a terrific opportunity for this. I really hope folks will come out and take advantage of this first week of performances-and then tell their friends!"
